“Who’s that knocking on the door like that?” McInnis’ girlfriend Sharon Bowie remembered saying.
The house was on fire, a neighbor shouted.
She ran up to the third floor and tried to put the fire out, she said. It was mostly burning outside at that point, flickering into the bedroom along the window sill, she said. But by the time she came downstairs to get more water, firefighters told her to get out, she said.
