City council last week approved pursuing the Pierce fire engine purchases, at a total cost of $550,000, according to city Administrator Luis Campos. The next step is for council to approve financing for the purchase from Command Fire Apparatus, based in Landisville, Pennsylvania, which offered the winning bid for the purchase, Campos said. Once the purchase gains final approval, the city should take delivery within 30 to 45 days, he said. ....

The Easton Emergency Squad, which has answered calls throughout the coronavirus’ nearly one-year run, has had none of its 10 full-time employees get sick with the sometimes-devastating disease, according to Bud Shull, the squad’s president. Four part-time employees tested positive after exposure from other places they work, Shull said. But that didn’t impact anyone else on the squad and just caused scheduling issues, Shull said. ....
