The Record
San Joaquin County residents who have fallen behind on rent due to COVID-19 can now apply for financial assistance.
On Monday, both the county and city of Stockton launched their respective rental assistance programs, which were made possible through millions of dollars in both federal and state funding sources. Stockton was been allocated more than $20 million, while the county received nearly $30 million.
The funds will provide emergency assistance to city and county residents who cannot pay rent or utilities because their household income has been reduced or they qualify for unemployment as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic. The county program is available to residents in all of San Joaquin County's cities aside from Stockton, as well as unincorporated areas.
