N6.25 billion COVID-19 palliative: Senate issues Pondei last warning to appear before committee

The immediate past Managing Director of the disbanded Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Prof. Daniel Pondei, has been summoned to appear before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions.
The summon was connected with the alleged release of N6.25 billion COVID-19 palliative by the Federal Government through its Presidential Palliative Distribution Committee to the NDDC during his time, but which the spending was unclear.
The Senate on Thursday issued a last warning for the ex-MD’s appearance for explanation, due to the petition by the former Chairman, NDDC COVID-19 Palliative Committee, Chief Sobomabo Jackrich; alleging misappropriation and diversion of the palliative funds.
