Full- and part-time teachers in the Murfreesboro City School district will receive a one-time, non-recurring 2% raise in May, according to a motion passed by the school board at its regular meeting last Tuesday.
In January, the Tennessee General Assembly passed legislation to provide the raise for BEP-funded instructional positions and some other certified positions for the Jan. 1-June 30, 2021, time period. The General Assembly gave local school districts discretion on how to distribute these funds.
Individuals who began work on or before March 1, 2021, will be eligible for the added compensation. They must be actively employed on May 15, 2021, to be eligible for the added compensation. Actively employed include individuals who are on paid or unpaid approved FMLA leave, COVID leave, military leave or workers compensation leave.
