>> ignoring ukraine, ignoring gaza, the maga conditions for aid to israel. >> making it much easier for the ultrarich to cheat on their taxes. how the heck could that be their highest priority? >> tonight, the republican plan to make billionaire tax cheats great again. plus, what's happening with hostages and the humanitarian collapse inside gaza, as the israeli invasion continues. then a day before his adult sons testify, is the indicted ex president already violating his gag order? and senator sheldon whitehouse on subpoenas for republican megadonor's over lavish spending on supreme court justices. >> i would like to keep that, friends. >> when all in starts right now. >> good evening from new york, i'm chris hayes. the united states congress began this week with the speaker of the house and both of its chambers in session. the last time that was true, we were an entirely different world. just remember, it was on october 3rd, when a small group of maga republicans fired the last speaker, kevin mccarthy, plunging the house into chaos. it was just four days after that on october 7th that hamas broke through the border between gaza and southern israel and slaughtered 1400 people in israel, including men, women, children, and taking another 200 plus hostage. israel then enacted a complete and total blockade in gaza, cutting off basically all food, water, and fuel. three weeks of sustained airstrikes and now a ground invasion, all of which together have cost thousands upon thousands of civilian lives. the gaza health ministry, which is controlled by hamas, -- statistics have proven broadly accurate in prior conflicts says the death toll in gaza is over 8500 people. here at home, political battles are being waged over a new military aid to israel, along with additional aid to ukraine and its ongoing war against russia. which president biden has asked congress to authorize. something -- previously not able to do, as the house didn't really fully exist. it was in this liminal space with an interim speaker, with no formal powers. it took three weeks for the republican conference to get its act together to finally elect a new speaker. but now that louisiana republican mike johnson has been sworn in, the house republican majority is ready to govern. speaker johnson is laser focused on what really matters, the most important issue on the minds of the american people, making it easier for rich people to cheat on their taxes. not only does johnson want to uncouple aid to ukraine from the aid to israel bill, against the will of both the white house and the bipartisan consensus in the senate, he's also demanding that any money for israel be paired with cuts to the irs, whose job it is to audit the very wealthy and make sure they are paying what they owe. and while johnson and his maga nfederates are referring to this plan as a way to offset the spending, it's actually the opposite. independent analysts including a nonpartisan congressional budget office point ou gutting the irs actually raises deficit rather than lowers it, because more funding for the irs means more accountability for rich folks trying tavoid paying their fair share of taxes. which means, does, more revenue for the government. cutting that funding, meanwhile, means less revenue for the government and thus higher deficits. it's expensive. today, speaker johnson met with secretary of state anthony blinken, who presumably made the white house's case for -- leaders of both parties in the senate made it clear, the speaker's alternate plan was a total nonstarter. >> the house gop bill is woefully inadequate and has the hard rights fingerprints all over it. it makes aid for israel, who's just faced the worst terrorist attack in its history, contingent on poison pills that reward rich tax cheats,. in short, it makes it much, much harder to pass aid for israel. it is insulting that the hard right is openly trying to exploit the crisis in israel, to try and reward the ultra rich. >> well, let me just say that conceptually, conceptually, senator schumer and i are in the same place, in the sense that we view all of these problems as connected. ukraine, is part of it. obviously, israel enjoys overwhelming support, but we think it's also important that we have a part related to asia, and that's taiwan. >> here's an interesting thing. for decades, about partisan policy consensus in washington, especially under republicans, and one that i think there is reason to be a little skeptical of, right? ? has been that defense spending doesn't count, doesn't need to be offset, it should not be a consideration when discussing strategies for deficit reduction. that has been a hard-core republican view. now, this latest ideological twist in the republican-controlled house that military aid for israel should be offset brings us, i think, to a really interesting question. what maga republicans actually believe? what does the party stand for? what is it trying to do as a governing entity? when donald trump was president, the answer was pretty clear. the maga movement stood for loyalty to donald trump above l else. that fact was made wasexicit when the party decided not to ev have an official platform in 2020, instead, ostensibly defaulting to a platform of whatever donald trump -- now. but without trump in office and especially during a protective battle for the speaker's gavel, as we've been covering on this program, i've got to confess, it's been hard to gauge, like, what are you doing? what are you guys doing? what are you trying to do? to gauge, what even the lines of factional fisher are? what is the maga caucus want? i mean, on the core issues, it seems like all of the major candidates for speaker were basically -- -- -- all hold extreme unpopular opinions on reproductive rights, namely, they want to ban abortions. they all want to slash domestic spending for the most for people in america, the social safety net. all but one supporting donald trump's attempted coup. and yet, for a while, it fell acknowledge that was the most united party but now this, i think, is really important and cannot be overlooked. or overstated. now that they have done it, they got their act together, they've chosen a speaker, he got the unanimous dissent of the caucus, then our ready, back to govern. day one, agenda item one. maga mike johnson a sense to the speakership and he's made his party's single guiding principle as clear as day. amidst all this, amidst everything that we've been covering, the images coming out of the middle east, the testimony that is so brutal and wrenching, the war in ukraine, russia, the number one priority for house republicans is what it has always been, they want to cut taxes for rich people. i mean, that was famously the only real legislative domestic policy accomplishment of the two years republicans control congress in the white house under trump. what did they get done? a big tax cut for corporations and rich people. it is once again the single binding policy ghoul, the north star for maga republicans -- washington. even amongst geopolitical crisis, involving one of america's closest allies, the maga movement will first, and foremost, above all else, focus on what it really cares about. making it easier for the yacht owners in america to commit tax fraud and get away with it. -- domestic policy adviser of president biden, she's taking part administration's new plan to combat antisemitism across the country and she joins me now. i want to start on the domestic policy front because it is something you have worked on and i have to say, i really did not, well, i should've seen it coming, but what is your reaction to the first big ask of that new republican leadership, being like, we want you to defund the tax police, basically? make it easier for people to cheat on taxes and we won't vote for aid unless we get that? >> well, i think it's a basic repudiation of the need for aid for israel, for humanitarian aid. the idea that they are saying that we should, in essence, make it easier for people to further very wealthy, the extremely wealthy, to cheat on their taxes by getting rid of irs enforcement is ridiculous. it has nothing to do with this issue, it has nothing to do with the crisis that actually really destabilizes the consensus on emergency funding. we don't have, quote, unquote, pay force. and again, this is not even a pay for because it adds to the deficit. so, it's not actually paying for the money, it's actually not a pay for for israel, because for the usual funding because it actually makes our budget deficits much worse, by making sure we have less revenue coming into the federal government. so, while it's a stop to peoples donors, it's actually not an answer in any way, shape, or form to the problems that we are seeing and honestly, in this moment of crisis it really speaks to a lack of seriousness to take on this international challenge and aid to israel, as well as aid to gaza that is so vital right now. in addition to our support for ukraine and the critical investments in border security. >> just on that point, i want to just hammer that home, it's the opposite of a pay for. that's also part of what's so wildly almost sublimely perverse about it, right? so first of all, the concessions that you don't offset the sort of emergency funding but if you're going to offset it, which is pay for, you need to raise revenue. this is the opposite. this is the irs commissioner danny werfel, daniel werfel, he says it will cost 90 billion dollars. all those funds to increase -- to all of the highest levels, he says, leaving money on the table, 90 billion dollars is more of -- than the amount of military aid being asked from the total of ukraine. i mean, that's a lot of money. >> absolutely and honestly, these are the moments where the letters and deficit reduction are just totally hypocritical. because in this moment, at this time, where we do face international crisis, where we are called on for leadership, where people talk about their support for israel, they actually are making it more difficult to pass this. this is a nonstarter in the senate and honestly, they are making this package much more expensive by getting rid of irs enforcement, which is really a bad ensuring that we have revenue into the federal government. so, it really rings hollow on every front. support for israel, support for national security, and a focus on deficits. >> now, i know your portfolio tends to be domestic policy, that's what you've been focusing on. i'm not going to ask you about specific foreign policy questions. i mean this. but i do want to ask you about the work that you are doing, meeting with jewish leaders on the antisemitism and what you've been doing, what you've been hearing has, obviously, people are still reeling from the awfulness of the attacks, but also, some of the truly vile stuff that we have seen jewish stars being repeated in perry, the images out of dagestan in russia that people chasing down an airport looking for jewish folks. what have you heard from the folks that you are meeting with? >> well, we have seen in the last several weeks a rise of antisemitic actions, acts. violence, threats of violence, and here in the united states, on college campuses and elsewhere, we saw, obviously, this weekend, an incident at cornell where there were specific threats against jewish students. all of this is horrifying. the president put forward the first national strategy to counter antisemitism. part of that was increase actions by the department of education, so before this, before october 7th, they put forward guidance that made clear that antisemitism is prohibited discrimination. in the last several weeks, they've been reaching out to college campuses and department of justice, the department of homeland security have also been engaged to just focus on the fact that violence or threats of violence against individuals or groups are just -- they are being prosecuted and there has been information out today about what's happening, what happened in cornell, but we are seeing a significant rise. i will say at the same time, in the country, we are seeing a rise in anti-muslim, anti-arab, islamophobic acts. obviously, we were heartbroken when the president expressed how heartbroken he was about the murder of a six year old child in illinois. so, we have also been combatting islamophobia and, you know, really, the presidents message here is that there is no space for hate in this country, that regardless of the events internationally, we stand against hate and our department of justice, department of education, and the department of homeland security are acting in accordance. >> all right, we, neera tanden thank you for making time tonight. i appreciated. joining me now is -- chief of talking points memo. i have to say, josh, like mike johnson rolling out, going after the irs on a bus passages past even a caricature. i can imagine, of a priority from republican house speaker. were you surprised? >> yeah, i kind of was. you know, i have pretty low expectations of the new speaker, but you know, the thing that differentiates him from a lot of the freedom caucus, he's just as right wing, he's extremely right-wing, but he's not another one of these republicans who's, you know, going on twitter and sharing pep a the frog memes, right? he's just a little more genial, he's a little softer. so, i expect that he would try to maybe get past this hurdle a little more gracefully. but as you said, this is kind of like a caricature. it doesn't even save money. it's almost, you know, republicans increasingly, is almost a philosophical basis of this is sort of like neener neener-ism, right? it's just like oh, you want that? you have to make it easier to cheat taxes and we are holding the football, so you've got to come to us. like, it's not even when, it seems stupid and kind of gross in a way that i think a pretty broad cross section of the electorate would see it that way. you know, aid for israel and ukraine is not just like liberal issue in this country. there's a lot of people who are pretty engaged with this. so, it did surprise me. >> yeah and on the sort of stupid, i mean, sometimes you know they're sort of these poison pills or sort of devious things that we are going to make you vote this terrible way for a thing that you want, we are going to jam you up, you will have to vote for, you know, whatever we think. you're going to have to vote to say you want to defund the police or whatever we think is the thing that puts you on the ideological defensive, as a sort of way of using our power. in this case, a must pass bill, you've got a bipartisan consensus in the senate, you've got the white house. i'm not saying the merits of it, i'm just saying the political reality. you can't unilaterally, this is the same place, they are in the same place of where we got to, which is, you can't unilaterally govern the entire u.s. government from a slim house majority. and it seems to me we are right back to where we were on that. >> that really is why kevin mccarthy was fired. it's exactly right. they have this very slim majority and the freedom caucus said, you promised us we could have everything. >> that's right. >> because we hold one half of congress and when he couldn't do that, they said, you betrayed us. and maybe kevin mccarthy did promise that, but that was a dumb promise, right? he can't do it, so you're right, it's exactly back where we were. >> josh marshall, thank you so much for making your time tonight. >> absolutely. >> the situation on the ground in gaza is intensely dire, as an israeli airstrike hits a refugee camp and hospitals are starting to run out of fuel. the latest on that and what happens next when we come back. s next when we come back s next when we come back his #2s are perfect! he's a brand new dog, all in less than a year. when people switch their dog's food from kibble to the farmer's dog, they often say that it feels like magic. but there's no magic involved. this is about half of gaza are children, right? this is like 2.1 million people, half of whom are children, people have been uprooted from their homes, forced to flee. there's also a complete siege imposed. we are seeing now some it getting in, not nearly enough. people don't have food, water, electricity, you know? this is completely unsustainable and the only thing that can put an end to the suffering is a cease-fire. >> we should say that there are some talk today about the rafah border crossing opening up for folks going to other places. particularly people who are in acute medical need. i want to just redo this, this is and it's really national security council -- suggested that civilians in gaza be taken to hospital ships for treatment. i guess logistically like, is it possible to move people that need the kind of care at your doctors are providing? >> well, this is a problem. i mean, israel has ordered all people in northern gaza to evacuate, including hospitals to evacuate. and we've been saying it's too dangerous to move these people. like, these are, by definition, the most vulnerable people. you know, there are people on life support, people with chronic conditions, and they can't just pick up and move. so, you know, we had a story the other day about our medical train in ukraine transporting patients who were forced to evacuate a hospital, just evacuating one hospital, evacuating any critically ill patient is a huge undertaking. it's really complicated and it is dangerous for the patients. and so, doing that on the massive scale that would be required here is just, it's impossible. >> with kavita menon doctors without borders who still operating in gaza and places around the world, thank you so much for making your time. as the israeli war against hamas upthe death toll climbs. what's the path forward? when i say landscape i mean all of it. i mean, jerusalem in tel aviv and haifa, and gaza, and it west bank. this and tire situation had been shoved to the side for so long. thinking it could be, you know, managed and that was a delusion. that was a delusion of the world, it was a delusion, i'm afraid, of the israeli leadership. and at the same time in gaza, you had a hamas which is devoted to the elimination of israel in power. so, it's tragic up and down and all around. i'm not creating equivalencies, i know all the arguments, but it's just deeply, deeply tragic and my great fear, and i think it's just self evident that at least in the short run, it will be the case, is that everybody will be radicalized. everybody. that the israelis in their outrage and fear and grief about what happened on october 7th have lost any sense of security and dozens who may otherwise have been totally indifferent to or object to, or even hated hamas, they will be radicalized by this experience of displacement and for the killing and in the west bank, which you're not hearing a heck of a lot about, in the west bank, settlers have, with increasing frequency, set upon palestinians in the west bank. so, everything has gotten worse. everybody is forced into a radicalized and situation, and at the same time, everybody's poorly led. everybody is poorly led. netanyahu is under indictment and made catastrophic mistakes of all kinds. hamas is responsible for terrible war crimes on october 7th win. and the palestinian authorities extraordinarily weak and undermined. so, in the short run, at least, this is a very, very grim situation politically and in and humid and humane terms. >> some of the folks you have talked to in the south, our people, i mean, i've seen a number of interviews of these folks and, you know, these are people who are not sort of in the netanyahu political base. a lot of them tended to be the sort of center left. this is the old sort of socialist kibbutz ideal. with what is left or what was left of an israeli peace camp, which has shrunk over the years. you know, found its home in these kinds of places and people sound traumatized and rage full, understandably, in the wake of what happened. >> people anywhere, anywhere want to be able to go to sleep at night with some sense of security. and -- whether you like it or not, the part of the reason, the state of israel was born, was because jews felt insecure, to say the least, all over the world. particularly in europe. and the establishment of the state was very much about a reaction to history, a reaction to centuries of antisemitism of -- extermination, of not see germany and, and, and. and we can go around all the subsequent things that have happened from the birth of zionism and the birth of the state, it's a very, very complicated history, but that was the purpose for the state and this, in one stroke, in one stroke, has been taken away. so that in the south, you have two huge areas of israel in a tiny state the size of new jersey. but they've now been abandoned. the northern area, which is facing hezbollah, and the western negative, which is near to gaza. these -- villages. and by the way, there is every evidence that this rampage of october 7th could've gotten a lot worse and a lot farther. and even more menacing. so, the sense of security is lost everywhere. >> david remnick whose new pace on this after the week or so he spent in israel is really worth your time to read. david remnick, thank you very much. >> thank you. >> we will be right back. thank you >> we will be right back >> we will be right back and last for weeks. a pain so intense, you could miss out on family time. the virus that causes shingles is likely already inside of you. 50 years or older? if so, what happens now? -- a former prosecutor in new york, now a white-collar criminal defense attorney and he joins me now. if this were a greek tragedy, the course at the beginning would tell us that donald trump is going to violate every attempt by the judge to rein him in and end up in jail. then we would just sort of watch it play out. that's really how i feel. like, this dude is going to do it, isn't he? what do you think? as someone who's practicing these courts on both sides, what do you think of the latest one? >> if he wasn't therapy, they would call him the eight year old narcissist and that there is nothing else they could do about it. he's just hopelessly who he is. there is a lot this judge can do about it. i've said repeatedly, publicly and privately, that donald trump has never dealt with a criminal justice system before. civil is different. in a criminal justice system, the federal judge has a lifetime appointee. he is no match, no matter how much money he may or may not have, for a sitting federal judge. and it's incremental. he is violated the direct order, she let them brief the issue, and now she's put the order back in place. and within minutes, within hours, he violated it. that is the attack to potential, one potential witness in barr, who is his attorney general, who is most likely going to be called as a witness, and then he attacked the judge, who is, quote, court personnel. she did not name herself in that court order, but she is court personnel. they can hold a hearing, she's got to take testimony, and then she can find them in contempt of the specific order. she can find him or even worse, i keep reading that he's not going to be locked up or she won't lock him up because of these challenges, as far as administrative challenges. but that's not necessarily the case. the federal judge can put him in a holding cell until he cools off for a couple hours. but it will be incremental. probably a fine now after hearing. >> yeah, so you know, we've already seen all the things you played out procedurally, even though it's in a very different legal context, which is a new york civil trial, you still have a judge they're trying to rein him in and still in that case, you know, a civil defendant who won't be reigned in, right? so when gordon issued a protective order after trump, you know, displayed a picture of one of his court personnel, his clerk said, don't do that, then violated it again because it was still up, find him for that, then game outside and basically appeared to make reference to her, and that judge called him on the senate took the testimony right there. you're seeing that judge chutkan could do the exact same thing in a federal court? >> exactly and with one slight difference for your listening audience, right? because it's a federal criminal case, she could find him in civil contempt for violating their order, but she could win -- criminal contempt, which is what if she makes that finding, she would refer that, i say, separate case to the u.s. attorney's office in washington and they would have a determination as to whether they would prosecute him for criminal contempt on her court order. it could be a separate proceeding. she wouldn't sit on it. another federal judge in the d.c. circuit or the d.c. federal court system would sit on it. he could literally be creating another criminal trial for himself by violating her order, if she does a finding that, in fact, he involved purposeful criminal intent to violate this order. there's enough there to make that finding right now, in my opinion. >> yeah, well i'm curious to see that if that finding comes out. there's a maybe plausible deniability in so far as there was, you know, the order was sort of reinstated and the post happened very soon thereafter. he didn't know. but i think he's going to have to explain it to the judge in this sort of words of the trump. it's got bold, and it was always a pleasure to talk to you. thank you very much, sir. >> thank. you >> still ahead, new details about just where justice clarence thomas got the money for his luxury rv and new plans to subpoena his billionaire backer. senator sheldon whitehouse is here on that, next. re on that, next re on that, next eryday products, designed smarter. like a smart coffee grinder, that orders fresh beans for you. oh, genius! for more breakthroughs like that- i need a breakthrough card. like ours! with 2.5% cash back on purchases of $5,000 or more. plus unlimited 2% cash back on all other purchases. and with greater spending potential, sam can keep making smart ideas- a brilliant reality! the ink business premier card from chase for business. make more of what's yours. we really don't want people to think of feeding food like ours is spoiling their dogs. good, real food is simple. it looks like food, it smells like food, it's what dogs are supposed to be eating. no living being should ever eat processed food for every single meal of their life. it's amazing to me how many people write in about their dogs changing for the better. the farmer's dog is just our way to help people take care of them. ♪ rsv can severely affect the lungs and lower airways. but i'm protected with arexvy. arexvy is a vaccine used to prevent lower respiratory disease from rsv in people 60 years and older. rsv can be serious for those over 60, including those with asthma, diabetes, copd, and certain other conditions. but i'm protected. arexvy is proven to be over 82% effective in preventing lower respiratory disease from rsv and over 94% effective in those with these health conditions. arexvy does not protect everyone and is not for those with severe allergic reactions to its ingredients. those with weakened immune systems may have a lower response to the vaccine. the most common side effects are injection site pain, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, and joint pain. i chose arexvy. rsv? >> oh yeah, it's away from the sort of meanness that you see in washington. you get in here with just the regular folks and it's so pleasant. >> a big part of the story of justice clarence thomas told by his supporters. this is a guy who's gone from growing up in deep poverty in the segregated south to the heights of american power without losing sight of who he is. and one example used to show what humble and down to earth guy he is is that instead of traveling to exotic locales on vacation, he spends his vacations driving in an rv, parking in walmart lots and talking to average americans. except that we have learned he does go on insanely expensive vacations with his benefactor, harlan crow, including trips on crow's yacht, his jet, and 2a6 lose of adirondacks resort. and tn we've also learned, from repting by the new york times, that ts man of the people drives a top-of-the-line luxury motor home but with a loan from the entire purchase price of over a quarter million dollars. from another wealthy friend, not crow. nbc news is not independently confirmed that report. the senate reviewed and found that this alone for over a quarter of 1 million dollars was mostly forgiven. senators have also requested more information from harlan crow and other benefactors of the supreme court justices. -- getting only limited cooperation, they now plan to issue subpoenas. senator sheldon whitehouse of rhode island is a member of this judiciary committee and one of the people leading the push for those subpoenas, and he joins me now. it's good to have you on, senator. let's start on the rv home. obviously, you know, supreme court justices are people. they buy property, they buy houses, they get mortgages, they get loans for stuff, fine. but for giving loans sound a lot like a gift to me, maybe i'm crazy. like, what's the judicial ethics code say about loans and forgiven loans in an amount of that size? >> you are not crazy, chris. a forgiven loan, in this case, it looks like the entire principle of the loan was forgiven. it looks like he only paid interest over a number of years and then the entire 267,000 dollar principal was simply forgiven. that amounts to a gift not only for a judicial disclosure purposes, but also for federal tax purposes, and that is one of the reasons that the finance committee of the senate, led by chairman ron wyden, was able to dig in and find this information. >> let's say you were a federal circuit court judge. you know, you're on the ninth circuit and you also like to drive a top-of-the-line rv motor home, so that you could talk to, quote, average folks. and then that was subsequently forgiven. would you have to report that? would that be allowed? yeah. >> yes, you would have to report that and you would have to report who gave it to you, in case a case emerged with that individual, so that you could make the appropriate refusal decision in addition to the appropriate disclosure. and if you fail to reported, as justice thomas failed to report it, you wouldn't be subject to disciplinary proceedings in that circuit, and you would have to account for yourself to your colleagues. >> so, we know for a fact he did not report this loan forgiveness. we just want to be clear, we know for a fact the loan was forgiven and we know for a fact he did not report the loan for being forgiven. is that what you are saying? >> the evidence that we have obtained in the senate finance committee is that the principle of the loan was forgiven. we haven't finally -- the evidence is and we haven't come forward to rebut that. so of course, there is no reporting of that as an effective gift that should've been reported. >> we have heard news that there are plans dante issue subpoenas, and i think those would be coming out of judiciary, not finance -- committee but rather judiciary or also where you sit in, which is shared by dick durbin, if i'm not mistaken. -- leonard leo, who runs the i don't even know what he runs anymore, he runs 1 million different organizations with 1 million different names, all nested within each other with an impenetrable maze. so, it -- harlan crow, the billionaire friend and benefactor of clarence thomas, maybe a few others. what push senate democrats or committee leadership over into subpoena territory? >> well, we were getting noncooperation from the various individuals that we requested and we were getting noncooperation that seemed utterly incredible. their theory was that we have absolutely no business conducting any inquiries here, which overlooks the fact that the disclosure statute that is in issue is a statute passed by congress and the recusal statute that would be triggered by gifts like this is another statute passed by congress, and the body that implements those tools is the judicial -- which is an agency created by congress. so, their argument is, you congress don't get any oversight over how an agency you, congress, created, is implementing laws that you, congress, passed. just from me saying it, you could see that the argument is nonsense and the fact that we were just sticking to it tells me, a, that there is really something to hide there and be, that we are just going to have to push forward with proper compulsory process. >> that is i guess the wording i had seen is may face or planning to issue subpoenas. can you nail that down any further? do i have to talk to dick durbin for that? like, how vital is this? >> what happened is on monday, we gave out the formal notice that a subpoena resolution is going to be on the agenda thursday. >> got you. >> and customarily, has kicked over week so it'll actually be next thursday. what the resolution does is it authorizes a chairman to issue the subpoena and after that, a chairman can issue at his leisure and at his convenience, at the time of his own selection. so, exactly when we then proceed to the issue since is not determined yet, but the vote should be ten days from now. >> so under sheldon whitehouse of rhode island, thank you very much, sir. all right, don't go anywhere because, guess what?
