More testing to determine the extent of a strain of salmonella in poultry flocks

New Zealand Food Safety has focused tracing and testing efforts on egg producers after Salmonella Enteritidis - or SE - was found at an Auckland poultry farm.
Restrictions have been placed on three North Island egg operations - to stop potentially infected eggs reaching consumers.
The widened testing programme includes 20 egg-laying facilities and five chick rearers, who account for 80 per cent of the industry's table eggs.
