Real Milk Timaru has been forced to halt supply and is asking customers to throw out some batches of milk, following the discovery of listeria monocytogenes.

Concerns for the welfare of mussel farming in the Marlborough Sounds were sparked after sewerage spilled into the estuary at Havelock. New Zealand Food Safety has focused tracing and testing efforts on egg producers after Salmonella Enteritidis - or SE - was found at an Auckland poultry farm.
Restrictions have been placed on three North Island egg operations - to stop potentially infected eggs reaching consumers.
The widened testing programme includes 20 egg-laying facilities and five chick rearers, who account for 80 per cent of the industry s table eggs.
