Holly Springs, N.C. — It took two weather delays and a neutral site game, but the Middle Creek Mustangs earned a win over the Holly Springs Golden Hawks on Thursday night to lock up second place in the SWAC.
Senior catcher Jonah Oster's crushed two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted the Mustangs to a 5-3 win and a secured spot in the 4A state playoffs.
Holly Springs broke through in the top of the first inning with an RBI hit from Brock Wills that made it 1-0 early.
