Tallahassee, FL – For the fourth time in the last five seasons, the FSU men’s tennis team is off to a 3-0 start in spring play. The Seminoles did not drop a point for the second time in three matches as they swept South Alabama (2-1) 4-0 at the Indoor Tennis Facility. Florida State was led by Loris Pourroy and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif, who each won their singles matches in straight sets and both were part of a doubles win. FSU secured the doubles point for the third straight match, winning 2-0. Playing at one doubles, Pourroy and Sebastian Arcila got the Seminoles off to a good start taking their match 6-2. Dous-Karpenschif and Maks Silagy secured the 1-0 lead taking their match on court three 6-3. Dous-Karpenschif continued the stellar start to his Seminole career putting FSU up 2-0. The freshman improved to 3-0 on the season in singles as he won his match 6-3, 6-2 on court six. Pourroy continued his strong start to 2022 as well playing on court one as he improved to 3-0 coming off second with a 6-1, 7-5 win. The Seminole junior fought back from 1-4 in the second set to take the point. The four remaining matches all went to third sets. Andreja Petrovic won his first set 6-4 and almost closed it out for FSU himself before falling 5-7 in set two before moving into a third. Richard Thongoana, Sebastian Arcila and Youcef Rihane all dropped their first set and came back to force third sets but it was Rahine who clinched for the Noles taking his match 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. The Seminoles will be back in action inside the Indoor Tennis Facility today versus Samford at 5:15. On Saturday, FSU will face Stetson at 2:00. All matches are scheduled to take place at the Indoor Tennis Facility.
