Meat Market will pay homage to late winemaker Joseph Phelps, one of Napa Valley’s most innovative producers and the first to bottle expensive Bordeaux blends with a proprietary name, with a wine dinner featuring six of his iconic eponymous wines on Wednesday.
The highlight of the evening is a course featuring 2017 Insignia and 2017 Backus. Insignia, a traditional Bordeaux blend, was introduced in 1974. It is a blend of grapes from several Napa Valley vineyards.
A purer expression of terroir is to be found in the single parcel Bordeaux blend from Backus Vineyards in Oakville, California. The spectacular 45-acre property is in the heart of Napa Valley.
