Mass vaccination center set up at South Florida Fairgrounds
A vaccination center, capable of inoculating 7,000 people a day, will open Wednesday at the South Florida Fairgrounds, Palm Beach County officials announced on Friday.
However, with vaccine supplies still limited, officials said it will be a while before thousands will be given shots in a 20,000-square-foot tent that has been erected to accommodate future crowds.
“Our teams are ready as soon as the vaccine starts flowing into the county,” said Darcy Davis, CEO of the county’s Health Care District.
While the rollout has been heavily criticized, County Mayor Dave Kerner said the operation is a testament to the county's ability to vaccinate large numbers of people.
