Mashpee Health Department Prepared To Assist Vaccine Distribution

Mashpee public health officials are preparing to help coordinate the massive COVID-19 vaccine distribution effort on a local level whenever doses of the vaccine become available.
“It is going to be a kind of all hands on deck type of response,” Mashpee Health Agent Glen E. Harrington said at the Mashpee Board of Health meeting on Thursday last week, January 21.
As the state prepares to vaccinate all people 75 and older, Mr. Harrington has reviewed the town’s demographic information and sent an estimate of the population that qualifies for vaccinations in Phase 2 to the state.
About one-third of the population of Mashpee, or about 4,500 residents, are over the age of 65. Of those about 2,500 are over the age of 75.
