WATERBURY – Marianne Louise (Cavalieri) Fusco, age 61, of Waterbury, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2021, after a courageous fight against COVID-19 at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Salvatore Fusco Jr.
Marianne was born Aug. 6, 1959, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Josephine (Fortunato) Cavalieri. She was a graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1977. Prior to her retirement, Marianne was employed as a clerk at the Waterbury post office, where she worked for over 22 years.
She was a devout child of God who loved the Lord, and was an active member of Waterbury Christian Fellowship. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren, her “chicky choos,” as well as her love for Jesus and spreading His love to all that she came in contact with. Anyone who knew Marianne or had the pleasure of meeting her instantly felt her infectious spirit. Her laugh, which could be heard across a crowded room, was a staple of her joy filled, full of life personality. Marianne knew no stranger and had a skill of making fast friends with anyone she met. She was an overcomer and showed immense strength in her battles with addiction, breast cancer and transverse myelitis. Although bound to a wheelchair for the last six years, she never once let her physical ailments hinder her vivaciousness and zest for life. She could often be heard shouting “I love my life!” She was a true representation of her life verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13. Thanks to the love and support of her A.A. family, Marianne celebrated 11 years of sobriety this June.
