Manipur government: Manipur govt holds peace talks with an Imphal Valley-based insurgent group

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that the state government is holding peace talks with an Imphal Valley-based insurgent group, likely with the UNLF. The talks are at an advanced stage, marking the first time since the ethnic violence broke out on May 3. The UNLF has been banned by the Centre for Home Affairs (MHA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 for five years.
