A resident of Fort Meade, Fla, has pleaded guilty in a Laredo federal court to attempting to smuggle 149 immigrants who had crossed the border illegally, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Joseph Winslow, 54, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiracy to smuggle immigrants. U.S. District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo will impose sentencing on June 15. At that time, Winslow faces up to 10 years in prison. He was permitted to remain on bond pending that hearing.
