Man charged with battery, threatening officer

EDWARDSVILLE — An Alton man was charged Monday with two counts of battery and threatening a public official.
Charles D. Drake, 52, listed as homeless out of Alton, was charged May 3 with aggravated battery and threatening a public official, both Class 2 felonies, and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony.
The case was presented by the Alton Police Department.
According to court documents, on April 29 Drake allegedly grabbed a woman by the wrist in the parking lot of the U.S. Post Office, 1624 Main St., Alton, struck an Alton Police officer and threatened to take the officer’s gun and shoot them.
