Macy's to close store at Daytona's Volusia Mall by end of April
DAYTONA BEACH — Struggling department store chain Macy's Inc. on Wednesday confirmed that it will be closing its longtime location at Daytona Beach's Volusia Mall by the end of April.
It's the second major big box retailer at the mall to close in the last two years, following the closure of Sears in 2019.
Macy's has been one of the enclosed mall's anchor tenants since the 1980s. It will be one of 45 locations that Macy's has decided to shutter by the end of April.
"I'm saddened," said Marion Bacon, a Daytona Beach resident who has been a regular customer at the Volusia Mall Macy's for more than 25 years. She said she and her neighbor, Anne Granfors, try to visit the store at least once every other week. "I like their clothes and their sales. That's why we're here today."
