Lt. Walter Correia in line to be Wareham’s next police chief

WAREHAM – Police Lt. Walter Correia will be the town’s next police chief subject to negotiating a new contract, following a Selectmen’s vote Tuesday.
Town Administrator Derek Sullivan said Correia was number two on the active Civil Service list from which current Chief John Walcek had been selected.
Sullivan said Correia would make a wonderful chief, but first he needed the board’s OK to negotiate a contract with him. That request was unanimously approved.
Sullivan added the town had been very fortunate to have three very strong candidates.
