Local writer, photographer remembered as 'calm and steady voice'
HOLLAND — Michael Lozon, a beloved local writer and photographer, died Friday, July 2, at the age of 72 after a five-month battle with cancer.
Lozon was born in 1948 in Grand Haven, but spent most of his childhood in Alpena. After moving to West Michigan, he earned a bachelor's degree in photojournalism from Central Michigan University and began his career as a writer.
Lozon was the business editor at The Sentinel from 1987-1990. He also worked as a business writer at The Grand Rapids Press, a freelance writer and editor for Holland Hospital and a group facilitator at Herrick District Library.
