Outside Gainesville's City Hall, over 30 people from Alachua County, other parts of Florida and even Georgia gathered in the humid evening air to rally in support of the minority transgender community.
Many wore shirts that said, "we still matter," or "stop killing my Black trans [sisters]," while others sported eye-catching pink, white and light blue accessories, showing off the colors of the transgender pride flag.
Chants, mantras and affirmations, like, "all trans lives matter today, tomorrow and always," could be heard across the courtyard and into the city's downtown streets, drawing a bigger crowd as Tuesday evening's event went on.
