MARQUETTE — Police and fire departments from across Marquette County held a friendly competition for a great cause last week.
Police officers and firefighters squared off in a four-hour Red Kettle challenge benefiting the Salvation Army’s “Rescue Christmas” initiative.
Spearheading the competition were Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt and fire chief Ian Davis of the Marquette Fire Department, both members of The Salvation Army Advisory Board.
Agencies joining in on the fun with the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and MFD were the Marquette, Negaunee and Ishpeming police departments, the Michigan State Police, the Marquette Township Fire Department, the Negaunee Fire Department and the Forsyth Township Fire Department.
