Authorities in Huntingdon County are seeking more information after a vehicle-pedestrian accident earlier this week. According to State Police, the mishap occurred Wednesday at about 7:20 am on Shavers Creek Road at the intersection of Boonie Lane in West Township. A nine-year-old boy was struck by a moving vehicle. The operator of the vehicle left the scene prior to the arrival of police. The driver is asked to contact State Police at Huntingdon to provide information.
State Representative Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton/Centre) is taking aim to exempt firearm and ammunition purchases from Pennsylvania sales tax. Borowicz has co-sponsored legislation which would exclude firearms and ammunition purchases from PA sales and use tax. She says “Both our state and federal constitutions declare that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be questioned or infringed, yet law-abiding Pennsylvania citizens are subject to several taxes and fees relating to the purchase and ownership of firearms.” Similar to a recent proposal introduced in West Virginia, the legislation would deliver a permanent state sales tax exemption for firearm and ammunition purchases.
