A Benefit Spaghetti Dinner will take place Friday, May 21 at the McAlisterville Community Building. The meal will be served from 3PM until sold out. The menu includes spaghetti with meatballs, salad, bread, applesauce and dessert.
These are carry-out dinners by donation. Proceeds will benefit Drew and Daris Ciecierski who recently lost everything in a house fire. Donations can also be sent to:

Authorities in Huntingdon County are seeking more information after a vehicle-pedestrian accident earlier this week. According to State Police, the mishap occurred Wednesday at about 7:20 am on Shavers Creek Road at the intersection of Boonie Lane in West Township. A nine-year-old boy was struck by a moving vehicle. The operator of the vehicle left the scene prior to the arrival of police. The driver is asked to contact State Police at Huntingdon to provide information.
State Representative Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton/Centre) is taking aim to exempt firearm and ammunition purchases from Pennsylvania sales tax. Borowicz has co-sponsored legislation which would exclude firearms and ammunition purchases from PA sales and use tax. The house fire in Fayette Township, which was covered in Monday’s edition of the Sentinel, was the home of EJHS teacher Drew Ciecierski and his wife, Daris. According to a GoFundMe established by the family, Drew was able to get their daughter out of the residence. When he re-entered the home (after leaving his daughter with a neighbor) to save his wife, the fire had grown worse. He was able to get Daris to safety, but not before both suffered severe burns requiring significant medical treatment. Daris received burns over 89% of her body, and the home was a total loss.
