MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Long Island Rail Road service was restored Thursday after an overnight suspension on the railroad's Huntington/Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches because of a fire near the tracks in Westbury, railroad officials said.
“Service has been restored on the Port Jefferson & Ronkonkoma branches following a suspension caused by a massive overnight fire adjacent to our tracks in Westbury,” railroad officials tweeted shortly before 9 a.m. Delays of 10 to 15 minutes were expected, the officials said.
The fire at Jamaica Ash and Rubbish Removal was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday and was not yet under control Thursday morning, Newsday reported.
