Rohan Samarajiva and Ramathi Bandaranayake presented on Day 4 of the International Webinar Series: SDG Sensitive Risk Communication & Community Engagement (RCCE)  Response to COVID – 19, organised by Tezpur University and UNICEF Assam. They presented preliminary findings on risk communication activities undertaken by the governments of Taiwan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka in response to COVID-19, and how these might relate to best practices in RCCE, especially the recommendations of the World Health Organisation. They emphasised the need for governments to direct messaging towards communications channels most likely to be accessed by the public, to communicate early and acknowledge uncertainty, and to engage with specific national contexts and tailor messaging towards those especially vulnerable due to health, economic, and other reasons.
