CARES Act funds and usage
If Brevard County does not pay firefighters and other public servants a fair and equitable wage, that should be addressed in the normal budget process. All of our county employees have served us well during the pandemic and deserve nothing less than a fair wage.
CARES Act money should be used to augment the county budget in areas where we have had to spend extra to protect citizens and employees during the pandemic. It should also be used to support citizens and businesses that have suffered financially.  Many people have expended their life savings and are now going hungry. They may lose their homes through eviction due to unpaid mortgages and rent. Small business owners are suffering in similar ways and that impacts the employees of those businesses.as well. Larger businesses are losing revenue and deserve some support as well.
