Learning First charter school in Worcester to move into former St. Mary's
WORCESTER — Learning First Charter Public School — on Gage Street for most of its 25 years — will move to the former St. Mary's Schools building on Richland Street.
Learning First, which has about 670 students in kindergarten through eighth grade, announced Monday that it had purchased the main building of St. Mary's, 50 Richland St.
St. Mary's closed last year, amid declining enrollment, and last week the Diocese of Worcester sold the property for $2.45 million.
The buyer was CIG The Daniels Building, a limited liability company based on Shrewsbury Street. Its president is Jeffrey E. Cunningham, according to state records.
