Women with dense breast tissue have more white glad lar tissue on the mammogram so background appears white. The problem is, Breast Cancer also appears white. Reporter stacys taking part in the study testing a three dimensional ultrasound called soft view trying to help doctors more accurately identified cancer tissue. Patient lies on their stomach and breast is placed in a warm water bath. In two to four minutes it scans the entire breast using sound waves. There is no radiation exposure and no compression of the breast. Reporter researchers are comparing mammography results to the scan to determine the machines effectiveness. There is no exam that is 100 percent but we want to be as close to 100 percent as possible. Reporter now results will be submitted to the f. D. A. For approval, doctors say it is a technology that is proven to be effective and gets go ahead , it could be used in addition to annual mammograms.
