As ktvu ali rasmus explains, people in the pleasanton Hacienda Mobile Home Park are mourning the death of a beloved neighbor. Just blazing to the habits. Thats how neighbors describe the flames seen coming from this home in the pleasanton Hacienda Mobile Home Park, where a fire broke out around midnight. Neighbors identify the couple who lived here as kathy and Richard Lawrence of pleasanton. Neighbors heard an explosion, and shortly afterwards they say kathy ran out calling for help. Her husband, richard, had mobility issues and was trapped inside. She had a garden hose. She was trying everything she was panicking and she just kept shouting. My husbands still in there. And that was that was sad. That was sad. Firefighters arrived and started to go into the house to rescue the man when they experienced something called a flashover. Thats when the contents in a home heat up so quickly they ignite all at once. All of that smoke and flammable contents kind of burst into flames. At the same time. They made the decision to aggressively go in and do what we could, knowing that there was somebody in there, but like i said, the conditions changed on them pretty quickly and they had to pull back out. Firefighters were not able to rescue richard. He died in the fire. His wife kathy went to the hospital. You could just feel the heat radiating off of it. And then the smoke coming up along really thick along the ceiling. It would just started roiling out and coming out fast. Just about every person we spoke to on this street told us richard and Kathy Lawrence were wonderful neighbors. They are struck and saddened by what happened to them. Its so sad. Beautiful couple, super nice, super nice. Very kind. Always caring. So we need to really pray for them and their families. Its one of those things you never expected to happen. It always happens to someone else and when it does, its horrible. Once the fire was completely out later this morning, fire investigators came to the home. They are going through it and trying to find evidence to determine exactly where and how this fire started in pleasanton. Ali rasmus, ktvu, fox two news.
