San Francisco Police now say a third person has died after being hit by a car Early Saturday Morning while sitting at a bus stop. It happened near munis west portal station. Investigators say a speeding suv slammed into four people who were waiting at the bus stop. One child and one adult died at the scene. A third person, a woman, died yesterday from her injuries, and police say a fourth victim, a baby, is still in the hospital being treated for life threatening injuries. Its such a loss. The driver was also injured. We have police have not said why the driver of the car lost control, but witnesses say the suv was clearly going very fast. As you can see, some people have come and left behind flowers stuffed animals. And youll notec the three pairs of shoes representing the three people who died here when an suv jumped this curb and crashed into the family waiting at the bus stop, a father, todd and toddler died at the scene. The mother and infant baby rushed to the hospital with some life threatening injuries. We learned that the mother died at the hospital over the weekend. The baby is still in Critical Condition now. The driver of the suv was hospitalized as well. What caused this suv to hop the curb and crash not just into the bus stop, but continue on to crash into a pole fire hydrant and into the side of the west portal library. Police say speed was a factor, but investigators dont know if the driver was under the influence or may have had a medicaluemergency. I was walking my dog and i, heard a horn, and then this all mighty loud boom. I mean, it was, how would you put it . You know, people say like a bomb going off. Well, this one was spsort of like that. I just feel for the been des. And, i just saw this sleeping stuffed animal, and i just thought of the baby. Safety advocates like the group walk sf. And now city leaders are talking about ways to make this area safer for. Ins weekend, supervisor myrna melgar said, quote, my office, along with sfmta public improve safety conditions for pedestrians and riders around the west portal station. The trauma and impact of this incident are immeasurable. End quote. Now san Francisco Police say they dont believe Traffic Engineering or the way that the streets and the bus stops are laid outuin this area were a factor in this crash, but the group walk sf says that the sfmta needs to step up its efforts to add speed cameras and Safety Cameras for driversuand pedestrians throughout the city. Now, the police want anyone who may have Surveillance Video of these car break ins to contact them. Two vallejo men are now accused of attempted murder after exchanging gunfire with benicia officers. Now, police say they tried to pull over the two men friday night after a license plate reader tagged it as part of a suspected Armed Robbery. The suspects refused to stop. That led to a chase vehice crashed. One suspect was immediately taken into custody. Police say the second suspect ran as he fired shots at officers who returned fire. That suspect was eventually found and takenuinto custody. The incident closed 780 in both directions for hours, but no one was hurt. Police in brentwood say they arrested a suspect in a shooting that happened at 8 00 saturday night on orchard drive near to s expected to survive. Police spstill have not said what led p to the shooting, but they do say itc appears to have been. California lawmaker in his final year in office has a very unusual goal. Former state Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon wants to find ways to make people happy. We cant see the damage from where were standing here at the front of the school. But we can show you some video of what it looked like when firefighters first came out to the scene. About 15 units responding here to what they were identifying as a second alarm fire. They rushed to the scene and reported no injuries as they put the fire out. But now the district is message to , parents and teachers letting them know to standby for any what we can see, it appears that school today. Representatives from the pleasanton unified School District came out to the scene last night, letting the authorities do their do what wee obviously going to be collaborating with them as long as itutakes to make sure that we do what we need to do to be safe. A district spokesperson says the gym building is about 100 years old. Its used to facilitate sports practices and games. The Fire Department tells us it is still working to learn what actually started the fire again. We do expect classes though to not be affected today or at least be in sessionn we havent heard any updates about what they may do to adjust tot that school building.
