The governor says tonight that the number of victims is expected to rise even higher as crews continue their search and recovery. Our hearts are with you. We are heart sick that weve had such loss, but the first lady and i send our love along with whatever support we can muster for the people of maui. Aloha, hawaii. His governor gave an update tuesday evening as search and rescue crews aim to cover as much as 85 of the disaster area before the weekend. Theyre having to just methodically go through almost sifting just through all the rubble to make sure they find everyone they know. Theyve got a large list of folks that are still not accounted for and they want to make sure they find everybody. Former fema appointee mark navarre says the arrival tuesday of a mobile morgue will be a big help. A team of coroners, pathologists, xray units and other equipment arrived to speed up the process of identification for victims families whove been asked to submit dna samples. Having all that equipment right at their fingertips can expedite and make the search and identification more accurate. But nervo says there is a big concern that could hamper recovery efforts. A Tropical Storm is brewing out there and that brings gale force winds, trade winds, winds that could fan any lingering hot spots and could disturb areas that still have victims remains. Fema has 416 people on the ground, along with 20 cadaver dogs. Thats what ive been talking to the governor about. I dont want to get in the way. Ive been to too many disaster areas, but i want to go make sure we got everything they need. I want to be sure we dont disrupt the ongoing recover efforts. The white house did announce earlier today that the bidens will spend nearly a week in lake tahoe starting on friday. A trip to maui could possibly follow. There is more fallout tonight stemming from the latest indictment against former president donald trump. The indictment in georgia accuses him and 18 others of trying to overturn the 2020 election results. Christien kafton walks us through the fourth indictment of the former president who is now facing a total of more than 90 criminal charges in a nearly 100 page indictment. Fulton countys District Attorney detailed dozens of acts by former President Trump and 18 of his allies. She says, were aimed at trying to undo the will of georgia voters. The former president has faced three previous indictments, one out of new york for alleged hush money payments and two federal indictments related to keeping top secret documents and charges surrounding january 6th. Professor andrew law at university of San Francisco has served as both a federal defender and a San Francisco prosecutor and says this latest case may pose the most serious risk to the former president. The narrative around the federal indictment is that, well, if trump wins the election, hell pardon himself. Now, there are all sorts of arguments about that, but that is something that is right now very much out there. Its different with respect to the states in georgia. You cant pardon yourself if beyond the legal jeopardy, there are many questions about how all of this will play out over the course of the upcoming republican primary. And general elections. Professor Sean Rosenberg studies political psychology and the rise of populism. He says for trump supporters, this latest indictment will only strengthen their resolve. The purpose of politics is to get things done for the people and to that end, there should be no constraints placed on the judgment or action of leaders who are acting on behalf of the people. Rosenberg says democrats will likely also be energized by the indictments, seeing them as confirmation of their worst fears about what the president could do if reelected. But rosenberg says the biggest impact could be with independent voters because they are more likely to see the judicial process as operating more or less impartially, as it is supposed to. And therefore, the fact of these indictments and certainly any conviction will negatively impact their attitude toward trump. As for the critical issue of the timeline of these issues, our legal expert says the former president will likely try to delay those federal cases for as long as possible, hoping he wins and can make them disappear. Fulton county District Attorney wants to start her trial in the next six months. Our legal expert says expect the same strategy out of the former president to delay for as long as possible with that case coming out of georgia as well. In San Francisco, Christien Kafton ktvu. Fox two news. We asked sonoma state Political Science professor david mcewan about the potential political fallout for the trump campaign. 37 of the american electorate is that hardcore Republican Base that will vote for no one but donald trump. But thats not where elections are won or lost right . Theyre won or lost with the purple people. Those suburbs around atlanta. Thats something to watch moving forward because as those folks tend to be fed up with what weve seen in terms of the number of indictment and politics as usual. But some of mr. Trumps gop rivals support his claims that the Biden Administration has weaponized the justice department. Think its an example of this criminal ization of politics. Mr. Trump says he has evidence to exonerate him. He says next monday he will release a quote, large, complex, detailed but irrefutable report on the president ial Election Fraud which took place in georgia. Quote, attorney general robert released the first doj office of gun violence prevention data report. According to the doj, the new data driven report does show that california homicide rate is 33 below the rest of the country. The report also claims that gun violence among those 25 and younger has dropped significantly in california compared to other large states. Bonta says he hopes the report will help guide policy and strategy discussions related to reducing gun violence even more. A new way to battle addiction in San Francisco. San jose city leaders have seemingly averted a contentious strike by members of two of its largest unions for months, the unions have asked the city for new contracts, threatening to strike today if those demands are not met. And just before the City Councils open session started today, the members did agree to a new deal. I am very optimistic that our group will also vote to ratify the contract agreement. I think it is a huge win for both of our unions as they agreed upon. Terms include a 15 raise over the next three years, eight weeks of paid family leave and more money for public services. Mayor matt mehan says he agrees with the family leave provision , but tells us the pay raise stretches the city to its limit. And i havent heard anyone who supports this deal identify whose taxes theyre willing to raise and whose services theyre willing to cut. The agreement still has to be approved by the city and then goes to the Union Members for ratification. It will then have to return to the full city council for a vote. Dry lightning has sparked a number of small wildfires across Northern California tonight. This is video from cal fire up in siskiyou county. The fire started northeast of redding early this evening. With that, we turn to chief meteorologist bill martin. Ill put you on the spot here. How would you describe the fire danger out there across Northern California . You know, with these lightning strikes that we saw, we saw over 60 lightning strikes in the last 20 hours. Even more than that. And we actually have a current strike right here. Well, it was just out of out of bernie. So even in the evening hours, were seeing a lot of lightning and we had yesterday a lot of lightning tomorrow. Well see more tomorrow afternoon and probably into thursday as well. And then more lightning forecast for early, middle of next week, more a more aggressive potential there. So its always dangerous, mike. And with the with the dryness that weve had, obviously summer, its a bay area and california its a high fire danger. But when you add unstable subtropical moisture and thats that humidity you feel you probably notice it again today with 95 degrees in vallejo and 35 humidity, it felt pretty sticky. So in these inland bay valleys, higher humidities and folks are used to and so much warmer, even though the temperatures it felt actually a little bit warmer than it really was, obviously. So as you look at you got the fog coming across the city. The fog is at the coast, but its shallow, so its not getting very far inland. So this pattern is going to continue. That pattern with the storms going up the spine of the Sierra Nevada tomorrow afternoon, the fog at the coast here and the very warm to hot inland bay regions is going to continue through tomorrow. And then we get a break or a respite on thursday as temperatures start to come down a little bit. So thats the general game plan when i come back, well well get more particular with it. Sounds good. All right, bill, thank you. Still to come here, guaranteed income expanding in one bay area county. The dog the horse on the property belonged to one person and he had been warned numerous, numerous times that something bad was going to happen and if it did, he would be held responsible. Ms. Bueno tells us that there are two dead horses that were badly abused underneath that dirt pile over there. Their carcasses simply covered up once they died. Lets take a look at the long range model and it will illustrate where the humidity is coming from. This is the next seven days and you see monterey and fresno see the green popping up, see that flow right there, that south to north flow. Thats the issue. All this moisture is coming in. Youll see more moisture getting pulled in here as we go into thursday. Cools off a little thursday as a low gets a little stronger, closer to us. But then watch what happens here towards the end of the weekend. Look at all that moisture that gets pulled into this thing and thats significant right there. That looks like something from a potentially a Tropical Storm that fell apart or will fall apart and then bring all this moisture. And that would be a big deal event there. Ng to happen. It just means this pattern is susceptible andr than that the thunderstorms, the lightning, the fires we talked about earlier in the newscast, this is essentially this plug of moisture is exactly what i was just showing you. But about 5 of it. And this is a very small plume compared to the one that the models forecast for next week. Doesnt mean its going to happen. Its just like, oh, yeah, this is the time of year when showers, even a thunder shower up around redding in the last hour or so with heat continue to give us fire concerns. And that will last pretty much this whole week. So humidity today was pretty high tomorrow will stay elevated and itll stay elevated as long as that low stays where it is. And i showed you seven days of that low staying put. And it depends what gets caught up in that low, how much moisture gets caught up in it, what happens in terms of rain or thundershowers in our area. But lake tahoe most certainly can count on more of that tomorrow and again the next day and probably the next day and through the weekend to one extent or another. The forecast for tomorrow felt like it was today. These are the current temperatures, which are about where they were yesterday. The moisture plumes coming up. Thats the humidity. Even if you cant see it, even if theres no cloud cover, its high humidity, high density air. This is tomorrow morning and then tomorrow afternoon, the thunderstorms again and that swath of moisture wraps like this kind of trying to wrap around the low. Then again on thursday morning, some fog and clouds, but the humidity stays thursday afternoon. You saw those thunderstorms move through. And up to the northeast, a little break on friday and then sunday, monday, tuesday, back into that type of pattern. So its not unusual. Well, its unusual in the fact that that low has been hanging out so long. Its going to continue to bring those high clouds in, which means higher humidities and the potential for thunderstorms in the meantime, its hot tomorrow, just like today, the humidities will be up elevated. So forecast highs just like today. Tomorrows just like today. Theres the five day forecast. You can see that weve got temperatures trending down on thursday. That low gets a little closer to us and thatll cool start to cooling trend, although the moisture comes in overhead and that could bring thunderstorms early next week, but thats a ways off. In the meantime, tomorrow, just repeat today. All right, bill, thank you. Madonna ready to resume the celebration . Madonna has announced the rescheduled dates for her celebration tour.
