Now, california, washington and new york already have laws to give drivers a minimum wage. The state law here, which voters approved in 2020, is headed for the state supreme court. The new charges include conspiracy to defraud the us, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding and conspiracy to prevent others from carrying out their constitutional rights. Since the attack on our capitol, the department of justice has remained committed to ensuring accountability for those criminally responsible for what happened that day. Educators across the country say the shortage of teachers continues into this new school year. Almost all Public School districts are still trying to hire teachers. That poses a problem since many students are still not learning at their current grade level. After losing ground during the pandemic, teachers say it will be hard to fill those open positions, especially for math and special education programs, because teacher pay is not keeping up with the cost of living. A minimum teacher salary for all districts across the state. And i think many states are actually doing that. But we have to think about the minimum salary in todays dollars isnt really the same amount that it was in 2019. It feels disrespectful to me to say that the work you do is not worth a living wage. Educators say with average math and reading scores still lower than before the pandemic, it is critical that students have enough teachers and that those teachers know the students and their needs. Now, speaking of childrens needs, are annual back to School Supply drive is underway and you can donate by scanning that qr code on your screen or going to ktvu. Com slash homeSchool Supply drive. There have been no major issues on the bridge, but its beginning to get crowded here on a wednesday. There have been no major problems on the bridge itself. This is a look at interstate 880, north and south. That traffic is moving along very nicely and if youre on the san mateo bridge, that traffic also looks pretty good. So things are beginning to get more crowded. However we dont have any major issues out there. Heres a man who doesnt have any major issues. Well, not this morning. And im not only on my old school, im getting old myself there, sal. Well steve, i know how you feel, buddy. Thank you. Thank you, sal. We do have a big , big fog bank. How big . Its so big. And its been there for a long time. Bodega bay, 51 point, reyes 52, San Francisco 54. Those are near average, two below 50 on the temps to 60. Everyone stuck. Why . Because the cloud cover 57. Truckee, south lake town and also reno closed on the thunderstorm yesterday. But now that that moisture is being pushed out of the air, i dont think itll be a factor. But moisture in the form of drizzle with the fog will be. It is this morning. Coast and bay and even a little bit inland. But also i think tonight and tomorrow well see more on the way before things calm down. By the time we get to friday or saturday, big fog bank coast and bay drizzle out there. Sunny inland but cooler, breezy windy and if youre in one of those wind tunnels, itll be roaring 60s, 70s and low 80s tomorrow looks even cooler thatll be the coolest day then temps rebound for the weekend. And it was scary. Now she and other neighbors say theyve reached out multiple times to city leaders, even with a formal letter from the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association reporting that this construct on site has been unsecured. So squatters would use the space and then leave before workers showed up in the morning. It was back on may 30th that the Neighborhood Association sent a formal letter to multiple city leaders, including the mayor and supervisor, reporting and concerns about safety with the project. Hes facing charges in another federal indictment, this time for his efforts to allegedly overturn turn the 2020 election. Trump is facing four counts related to his alleged efforts to overturn the election. Hes being indicted for free speech. Hes being indicted for objecting to the way that the 2020 election was carried out. In this case, well add to trumps rising legal problems and fees that could complicate his campaign efforts. Ktvu political analyst brian sobel says even with the new indictment, the Trump Campaign is not slowing down. Its the most interesting thing maybe in American History that a president former president can be indicted over and again and still retain his base the way that he has. Its truly remarkable. Then you look at a situation like mike pence, who was the one person who stood up to donald trump and said, i cant go along with all of this and will not go along with all of this. And he barely is polling nationally. And it just speaks to the tenor of the nation. Trumps fundraising has already pulled in millions of dollars despite his previous indictments, but his latest finance reports show the campaign is also spending a lot of money on legal fees. Lets check in with sal for a look at the commute. Sal all right. Pam and dave, we have a problem on bart and ed, theres a major problem. Well, not major anymore, but theres a problem thats affecting all trains. So my producer and i were talking about is probably having to do with the why theres a switch where the trains either go this way or that way. Right. And if its affecting all the lines in downtown oakland, which they say it is, theres probably a problem there. Its a track problem. So 20 minute delay systemwide for all the trains. Lets go to the bay bridge. We do have a backup here stretching out to the middle of the parking lot, but no trouble on the actual bridge. And if youre driving in oakland right now, it looks good. Looks like my 880 oakland camera may be down. So well go back to the bay bridge and were also looking at the san mateo bridge. That traffic is moving well at 610. Lets go back to the desk. All right. While federal authorities are teaming up with the local agencies on this case subways now slicing their deli meats fresh. Thats why the new titan turkey is proferred by this football pro. And proferred by this football pro who actually uses her feet. And if we profer it, we know youll prefer it too. I use my feet. Have you seen me scramble . 7 million. Armed robbery of a well known Jewelry Store in the east bay is allie rasmus joins us now live with the update, including federal authorities now called in to help find the suspects. Yeah, this case revolves around a smash and grab holdup that happened at heller jewelers. Thats in the Bishop Ranch City Center in san ramon earlier earlier this year, back in march, march 17th, seven people ran into that Jewelry Store just off Bollinger Canyon road. A Security Camera showed two men confronting Jewelry Store workers and security guards at the door. Theres even video of people running away in fear. You can also see the robbers making their escape. Theres also video of a man using a hammer to shatter a display case. Investigators say this group stole 1. 1 million worth of jewelry, including more than one rolex watch. Those watches are imported to new york from switzerland. And because the watches crossed state lines and ended up in california, local police were able to call in help from the fbi. I just needed a hook to get into this case. They clearly saw a reason to get into it. This usually is handled by the county. Now, no one at the city, county or federal level is explaining why the fbi was particularly interested in this case. San ramon police had security video of the vehicles. The thieves used to get away, including two Dodge Chargers, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a toyota sequoia. The federal agents used a gps tracker in a stolen rolex to track those cars, and they were able to link some of the suspects to at least two of those vehicles. One of them the orange Dodge Charger, had been seen near the Jewelry Store a week before the robbery. Now the fbi is still looking for other robbers that agents believe are connected to this Jewelry Theft ring. And investigators say one of the thieves was getting second hand inside information about that store from a woman who works as a clerk in a bay area Law Enforcement department. So complicated case. The fbi also handling that part of it as well. Dave and pam back to you. All right, ali, thank you. Time now, 615. The push to convert to solar energy as a more environmentally friendly power source is paying off, but it is also creating a new issue. What to do with solar panels when they are no longer productive or useful. Now, the Arizona Company we recycle solar collects and processes used solar panels. Its the largest solar recycling plant in north america, processing more than 172 tons of panels every day. The companys ceo says the panels should not be sent to landfills. Theres still life left in them. Theyre 25 to 30 years. At the end of the day, someone elses trash is someone elses treasure that were able to refurbish and remarket that and get it to a place where and Underserved Community can take advantage of that. Now, not all the panels can be cleaned up and put back into service, but the company says segments of the panels can be reused. That includes the panel frames. Some of the materials and even the glass sand blasting companies can use the glass instead of sand if the glass is being made specifically for our industry opposed to something that has already been used and then is being repurposed in our industry , its going to be a lot more expensive to have the new the new glass than it is the recycled. Now using glass instead of sand means new sand pits dont have to be found. Adding to the eco friendly elements of the technology. See, i learned something. All right. No major issues as you drive into San Francisco, but its crowded. We also did have a crash northbound 880 at 29th. Theyre making some progress there. The traffic at one point was backing up toward the coliseum. It never made it to the coliseum, which is good news. Highway four, that crash with the motorcycle finally cleared. But highway four has some slowing between pittsburgh bay point and concord. And then we go to the south bay. La honda oh. 02 near the claremont hotel. Also a 0. 01. Travis is just rocking and rolling there. West southwest 26, gusting to 33. So pretty good onshore wind for some. And cold ocean temps, 51, 52, 54. Thatll do it. Thats below average to near average 50 on most of the temps because as the cloud cover, everyone says cloudy. I dont think theyre cooling off anymore. So 56, 57 to 60 on some of the temps, a little cooler. Santa cruz mountains, mid 50s there. Boulder creek at 55, upper 50s, low 60s around santa clara, cupertino 56 aptos socal and santa cruz. Same for hollister, san martin and morgan hill. Talk about isothermal 80 in las vegas thats a pretty good thunderstorms theyre back into the 90s for phenix but 60s 50s 60s to 70in san diego on the coast midforties up in tahoe and truckee a couple of lows with us today and tomorrow then theyll kick out thatll allow the high to build back in so by the weekend well get back into the 90s maybe upper 90s far enough inland but today tonight tomorrow i think drizzle is going to be front and center and theres plenty out there already as you saw 50s 60s anywhere near the water and temperatures inland coming down if not today the coolest day it sure looks like tomorrow is. And then after that, well get a rebound. But today, a lot of fog. Some of it may take a long time to burn back. So cloudy to mostly cloudy near the coast. Sunny breezy to windy inland into thursday. Rebound starts friday. Warm to hot by the weekend away from the coast. Thank you steve. The Credit Rating of the United States has been dropped by a major credit agency. But the low cloud deck has now lifted because the inversion has broken down cooler air aloft. San bruno mountain, tilden park, la honda, near the claremont 1. 01 to 0. 03 on the drizzle, a no doubt about it, onshore breeze coming through the golden gate. Almost all Public School districts are still trying to hire teachers, and thats a major problem since many students are still not learning at their current grade level. A minimum teacher salary for all districts across the state. And i think many states are actually doing that.
