This is a snow producer in the sierra, primarily for the Higher Elevations. Right now, in fact, we have rain in blue canyon. As we check out a couple of reports here, some of the snowfall reports around 16 inches closer to tahoe city and checking out more sites closer to donner, reporting about 15 inches. We know a lot of businesses in the area are suffering because they dont have an outdoor option. And, honestly, i dont know that if this continues, if well be able to keep up, you know, what were doing. Reporter at restaurants like on piedmont avenue, its back to setting up tables outside only. No more Indoor Dining allowed. Movie theatres, houses of worship and museums can operate outdoors in alameda under key. I really in Alameda County. Mountain house elementary, which only has a total of 16 students. There are more than 60 private schools that have reopened in Alameda County, and they will continue, for the foreseeable future. Overnight today, the food and truck administration issued an emergency use operation for the first covid19 allin one test kit made by lucera. I think it could be a game changer potentially. I was excited when i heard of this announcement. Reporter the tests are approved for people 14 years of age and older. They use a nasal swab to collect a sample similar to other covid tests. With this one, a sample is placed in a vial that is put in a testing unit. In 30 minutes or less, the results can be read from the units display screen. When it was compared to a high licensative pcr test, it agreed with it 94 of the time with the positive cases j. Wow. And 98 of the time with the negative cases. That is great news. Reporter in a statement, the fda commissioner said in part, this is the first that can be fully selfadministered and provide results at home this new testing option is an important diagnostic advancement to reduce the public burden of disease transmission. Services at salons and personal care businesses can be provided by appointment. Los angeles countysa you daily confirmed cases more than double the past few weeks to now nearly between hundred. Hospitalization increased by 30 over that same time. Another bay area county is recommending people dont travel this upcoming holiday season. San mateo county officials said Holiday Travel is risky, especially with the recent surge in covid cases. Under the purple tier, any class resumeing in person as of tuesday can continue. For the majority of california School Districts doing distant learning, reopening plans are on hold. Until conditions improve or the school gets a waiver. Primarily, this has the armest impact on districts putting their plants in place for a return in 2021. The president said the next opportunity to make a decision is in march. Thee plans to push for not reopening at all this school year. San franciscos mayor has expressed support for the reopening plan saying families are struggling with Distance Learning. Californias nonpartisan legislative analyst is forecasting a surprise one time, 26 billion windfall the next budget year. The legislative analyst said the economic consequences of the covid19 pandemic have not been as severe as anticipated, but he does warn the windfall is solely the result of the state overestimating the 54 billion budget deficit in the current spending plan. He said, the states ongoing expenses will still exceed the states spending commitment. The faa lifted the order that grounded hundreds of 737 max planes for nearly two years. The settlement was announced this morning by California Attorney general Xavier Becerra and 33 other states, along with the District Attorneys from alameda, santa clara and santa cruz counties. The lawsuit said apple misrepresented iphone batteries. The company knowingly equipped iphone 6 and 7 phones with batteries susceptible to performance loss. California will receive 24 point 6 million of the total settlement. Pg e said it shouldnt be penalized for failing to tell customers the power could be cut last year. The company said it didnt break any laws in a few filing with the puc. The Public Advocates office argued that 400,000 customers were not properly notified during three power shutoffs. Regulators were asked to fine pg e 160 million. Pg e said there is no evidence customers suffered harm but advocates said, they put peoples safety and health at risk. Its unfortunate.
