Anglin, as 2100 firefighters decide to fight the flames, and build containment lines in an effort to keep the fire from encroaching into the town. Structures engaged in the area as a talk more about aircraft usage in that area trying to get the fire skirted around the community, and then also pope valley. Reporter the santa rosa fire chief reports that nearly 13,000 people are under evacuation orders now, with another 32,600 under an evacuation warning. It comes as Law Enforcement urges people to get out fast, as major arteries such as highway 29 and napa county and highway 12 in Sonoma County close to traffic. More evacuations are possible, although, we have been talking about evacuations in some areas, many people are and just to get home, but there is a real certainty that we could have additional evacuations as the fire begins to burn into the areas that have been described today. Reporter the new closures coming hours after Governor Newsom toured a Fire Ravaged Community thursday morning. Is a site familiar to many folks here in the napa region, its a scene that is very familiar with people in the napa and sonoma regions torn asunder by wildfires, seemingly every single year. Reporter standing in the charred remains of foothills elementary, the governor announced the early stages of a first of its kind agreement with the u. S. Forestry service, with an eye on reducing the severity of future wildfires. We have developed a partnership with the forest service, to double the amount of acreage we are actively managing, with prescribed burns, with vegetation management. Evacuation orders were issued for all areas of napa county north of the calistoga city limits, between highway 128 and the Sonoma County line at highway 29. And all addresses on highway 29 between the limits and leigh county line. And addresses on the road. Since the start of the year, 3. 9 million acres of land have burned more than doubling the previous record of 1. 4 million acres of land. Back to you. Andre life for us tonight, thank you. Of particular concern tonight is the small town of anglin, nestled high in the hills, line on the east side of napa valley, ktvu News Reporter tom baker and his photographer got a firsthand look at the situation there today, we are now in calistoga which is under evacuation order, thomas joining us live now, what have you been seeing and hearing today . Reporter we would be up in the town as we were yesterday if we could but the fire has progressed so much it has taken out some cell towers because of a lot of what we do runs on Cellular Services now, and we were unable to get a signal out so we came down here to calistoga where currently it is about 90 degrees, 27 humidity, and about 102 air quality index which is unhealthy, much worse in england, the thing that is important is that anglin is in a situation, the fire that took out deer park, and now its getting attacked from higher up, and here is what we saw all day today. Reporter in wildfire lore and science, where there is a smoke column you will almost always find a fire at the bottom of it. The current problem in napa county, lots of snow columns, some small, some enormous. As the crow flies, the robert creek winery is only about 2 miles from the very center of anglin. Here, a fullcourt ground and air assault has been underway, as helicopters finding an occasional break in the smoke come in and drop the bucket after bucket after bucket of water on a flaming brush. Firefighters are concerned, that if this fire is going to get up into anglin, it is going to have to come up through this valley, and they are doing everything humanly possible to keep that from happening. Another major problem, which is that this area has already burned once, but now, the hotspots are flaring up and right next to the hotspots, almost an unlimited amount of burnable fuel. Even as firefighters battle fires all around and gusty winds from the red flag warning were bearing down, essential repairs were also going on, here just outside of santa rosa, concrete barriers are being placed along highway 12 where guardrail supports have been burned away. With so many brought in and stockpiled to make those repairs both safe and permanent. The trees badly burned and the fires are being trimmed especially above roads where the trees very often have weakened limbs that can and do fall away, and could potentially hit a vehicle. Without a lot of this work being done now, people who have been evacuated cannot return, and normal traffic cannot be allowed. In napa county, apparently, some embers started a small fire in a heavily wooded area, at the crest of the oakville grade road. We found several cal fire crews working to cut lines through the area that they might have to defend, should more embers or any number of other fires come to this place. There are fires all over california, but for now, it appears that the most critical battle is the battle for anglin, a battle fully joined as smoke will allow. Reporter the situation remains that right now, we have to really see what happens, with the next 24 hours to fully understand where this is going. But the old saying is, mother nature, she bats first, she bats last, and she always bats 1000. Ktvu f0x2 news. Tom, you and i could stay safe out there, thank you. As we take a look at satellite, we are showing you this and basically, it is a big thick layer of haze and smoke blanketing a good portion of california, including right here in the bay area what has happened, a bit of a northwesterly flow pushing that smoke, just kind of nudging it, not clearing it out but moving it around. Current numbers of large areas you can see checking at the current sensors. Temperatures in the upper 80s to the 90s as we get closer to 89 degrees. It is a warm thursday evening as we check in on current numbers out there, still some 90s, close to 90 degrees well inland, 80s of in the north bay and into San Francisco with temperatures still on the warm side. Overnight lows, most areas in the 60s to around 70 degrees and then into the afternoon hours once again the heat advisory, mid70s, it should be cooler coast side, around sentences go but still the inland hotspots close to 100 degrees. All because of this a big area of High Pressure overhead with sticks around for tomorrow and your friday, another hot day with smoke and haze, looks what happens into the weekend especially by sunday, this pattern begins to change a bit, that will bring in cool air, still a bit of some haze, that spare the air alert continues, temperatures will cool off this weekend as the system settles in from the north. Highs for tomorrow, still very hot inland, close to 100 degrees. San francisco, 90s and 80s for tomorrow afternoon and up towards santa rosa it could be close to 100. Down toward south bay san jose in the 90s, here is a look ahead, your five day forecast, we bring in some cooling well needed into the weekend but once again red flag fire warning continues until 6 00 a. That thing was long gone. The fourth inning now down 30, josh murphy tickets arrived for the as thats a two run shot off cody hoyer, now 3to the as in the ballgame, fifth inning we are tied 44, chad pender comes through with the clutch hit, find a whole, two run single, murphy and tommy list all are going to score six 64, the as lead, too much for the white sox it is a double play ball off the bat of jose, thats a rare one, snappy there. Ninthinning, liam hendrix comes on, he is lights out after giving off a leadoff single in the inning, he wished the side, six for as, moving to the lds and wouldnt you know it will be against the houston astros, summing things up as the as take the series in three games. Its all about the team and the players, there is no individual who has anything more to play for than anybody else. So, we all felt the two wild card games actually the last three wildcard games, some of us have been around for all of that, can feel a bit more so, but it is the one thing about our group its not about one person commits about the team and the players rule the day. They will take on the astros come monday, sure didnt take long, the Atlanta Braves dispense with cincinnati, the reds arent anything close to the big red machine these days, they seem to strike out at an amazing pace, atlanta puts a rookie by the name of ian anderson, his friends call him jethro tell, he is not intimidated. Some of you may get that. Nick castellanos goes down, suarez, anderson, nine strikeouts and six inning, 10, the as break it open, marcel osuna, 50, the braves moving on in the National League playoffs. You ever noticed that it really doesnt take the good ones to find a job in no time flat . Seems like doc rivers, when he was parting ways with the la clippers about 15 minutes ago, actually three days ago, he has already found a new home, and it looks like a good group of talent he has landed with. The job is his as head coach of the philadelphia 76ers, they sustained a firstround exit and after seven seasons with the clippers, they blow a 31 lead to denver in the conference semifinals to the west, Steve Ballmer letting doc rivers go, or maybe they mutually agreed to have that happen, and he couldnt get the clippers despite the talents of leonard and george to the Promised Land that would have been a Great Western conference final, lakers and clippers.
