With a heatwave on the way and a three day weekend starting for many of us, Health Officials are getting the word out, stay vigilant against covid19 this Holiday Weekend. Allie rasmus now with the advice from Health Officials. Good morning. Good money. Public health Officials Say that all summer long they noticed spikes in covid19 cases about a week or two after some popular summer holidays. Memorial day, fourth of july, fathers day as well, so ahead of labor day they are trying to get the message out that people need to keep their guard up. They want people to keep their outings local, limited to their immediate family members and low key. Public health Officials Say clusters of infections over the summer were often traced back to things like backyard barbecues, picnics and family gettogethers. The Deputy Health director says part of the reason why is because when people are at the barbecue they take off their masks to eat and drink. He also pointed out another reason. When people have gatherings, people congregate inside in the kitchen to help with food preparation, and drinks and that kind of activity, and we would really ask that only the host be in the kitchen, that guests do not help out with any sort of food preparation. It limits your activity to outside, to outdoors. We will have additional rangers and Police Officers on duty this weekend to enforce these closures. Those closures are in effect for all beaches in pacifica this weekend to discourage large clouds from gathering. Hiking trails well remain open. Masks and social distancing are required, Half Moon Bay beaches are open this weekend, point race National Seashore is closed. In santa cruz and monterey counties, most beaches and state parks are closed. Santa cruz county leaders explain the reasoning behind the partial opening, they said they wanted to discourage people from coming in from out oftown but still keep the beaches open to locals during those evening hours. Most east Bay Regional Parks will be open this Holiday Weekend, but some things wont be allowed like picnicking, barbecuing, and swimming because of Health Restrictions. Crowds are expected so you are advised to make sure you social distance and wear a mask. A heartbroken mother in east bay has an important 20 for anyone considering a trip to the beach. The mother says that when her daughter, was swept into the ocean by a large wave and drowned. Sometimes its like im living in somebody elses world. You cannot believe that this has happened. It is like sheer devastation. She was our only and she was the absolute love of our life. She was our absolute everything. This grieving mother now wants to warn everyone about the dangers of rip currents and how young life can be taken so quickly and forever in one horrible instance. Based on adjustments to Santa Clara Countys coronavirus case rate, that would mean that museums, places of worship, movie theaters and Indoor Dining could reopen at 25 capacity. However, county Officials Say that is not likely. The local order is more strict in some areas, so there will not be indoor theaters or restaurants. Many Restaurant Owners plan to buy tents, tarps, and heaters to continue the Outdoor Dining in the fall months. Next week some students in marin county will be heading back to class in person. We will have a major heatwave this weekend as you know and a statewide flex alert has been issued by the operators of the power grid. We are all asked to conserve power starting tomorrow and through monday to prevent rolling blackouts. Some parts of the bay area will have more than 100 degree temperatures which would increase the demand for power.
