On monday a judge ordered both uber and lyft to comply with this law and begin reclassifying their drivers as employees instead of independent contractors. Under a normal company, if you get injured on the job you can get insurance on that. You cant get that with uber and lyft. Its a dangerous time especially with covid. The mayor of the city is among those that want the park to be open to everyone. For over 60 years the city of palo alto the government that eileen has refused entry to anyone not rich enough to have a palo alto residents. Thats what it comes down to to me. A lot of this high cloud deck is moving up to monterey. This is something we need to watch for later today. It will be a warm her forecast for all today with temperatures dropping up all the way to 100s unless the cloud cover comes in. There will be way above average. And it reflects the values of our city. The Police Commission came up the county board of supervisors voted to suspend 2 million to hire 24 additional sheriffs at the county jail. The responsibilities will include supporting Mental Health services at the jail and escorting inmates to appointments and allowing more timeout of the cell. We have been working on improving both health care and Mental Health care for inmates in the custody and control. That was the wrong decision, and i speak to the Racial Disparities if you look at who is incarcerated, you see too many brown and black people that are incarcerated. They reported that they received 200 million under the act. Mental Health Advocates say that its better spent on measures to keep people out of jail instead of hiring for deputies. They say that theyre adding 29 positions to increase the Mental Health service itself. A study from the Stanford University finds that nearly five four out of five schools are located just three blocks away from a store that sells tobacco. More than 60 in Public Schools are in the same close proximity. They say that the study shows that theres easy access to the products and shows the influence of the industry marketing.
