We began in oakland where police are investigating a shooting that killed one person and had wounded three others. Citizen avenue video shows officers arriving on the scene at fairfax avenue near cortland creek at 10 00 last night. Officers had immediately saw two shooting victims and to others shortly after that. One person died at the scene and another was rushed to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries, so far police have not released information about possible suspects, or a motive. The Alameda CountyDistrict Attorneys Office is investigating a deadly confrontation between a Police Officer and i suspect that had an assault rifle. The Police Chased a stolen acura Late Wednesday night into east oakland, where the driver had crashed. Authorities said the driver had got out of the acura, carrying an assault rifle, causing a san leandro Police Officer to shoot and kill that person, authorities have also said that there is body camera video of the confrontation but it is still unclear when or if the video will be released. The suspect who was killed was a 35yearold man from Castro Valley and his name is not been released. The k9 officers dog that disappeared during the incident has been found safe. Kane, the dog, was found in the backyard of an empty home on pierce street. The k9 may not have been exposed to gunfire, and its training. We now have Police Body Cam video from hayward, of a deadly officer involved shooting from may. It shows stony ramirez in a car that is surrounded by police. Ramirez was a person of interest in the death of a homeless man. Police say that ramirez ignored orders to surrender and put the car in reverse, and backed it into police cars. Three officers had fired shots and ramirez was killed. No Police Officers were hurt, the investigation continues. A state Senate Committee will debate a proposed Police Accountability law. It would help family members of those killed and officer involved shootings here in california. It is sponsored by lawmakers and prosecutors here in the bay area, including San Franciscos District Attorney. It would correct the racial inequity that results when there is no currently available compensation for victims of Police Violence toward disproportionate violence towards people of color. The bill would give restitution for victims of Police Violence and their families, it would also consider documentation of other forms of then Police Reports when determining eligibility. According to john hopkins university, 160,000 people have died from the virus, the same study found that 66,000 of those projected thats could have been prevented if people wear masks outside of their homes during the next four months. New numbers show the latest tragic milestone and the coronavirus pandemic urine california, 10,000 people across the state have now died from covid19. There are 541,000 confirmed cases across california. More than 8. 5 Million People in california have now been tested for the virus. Sonoma county board of supervisors had just approved tougher fines for people who ignore safety rules during the pandemic. Individuals can now be fined 100 for not wearing a mask, or not staying 6 feet away from other people. Restaurants, bars, and stores could be fined starting at 1000 for not having safe workplaces for employees. A second violation would cost businesses 5000. They could be fined up to 10,000 for each additional violation. Critics say the fines are unfair, and not necessary. The crackdown and Sonoma County takes effect immediately, san mateo, marin, and napa counties have similar ordinances. Happening today, los angeles will enforce a new order to shut off power and water to homes where big parties are held. Officials are blaming large indoor gatherings for contributing to the rise and surge in number of coronavirus cases. Today, San Francisco schoolteachers will start voting on a proposed deal for Distance Learning this fall. Pretty good morning, dave, the Teachers Union says they reached the agreement after weeks of negotiations including a marathon 16 hour targeting session that ended yesterday with School District officials. San francisco united unified, like many other School Districts in the bay area is starting the year with remote learning. Teachers and School District administrators and many places need to negotiate how Distance Learning works, how many minutes and in what way will teachers give lessons, live online, or prerecorded video lessons . The details of the agreement had not officially been released, but according to the San Francisco chronicle, it includes things like a 400 stipend for teachers to purchase equipment in order to work from home, increasing internet speeds and using personal phones, and a plan for teachers that must return to classrooms to be able to do that safely. The San FranciscoTeachers Union says they will have a town hall meeting later today in order to discuss the details of the tentative agreement. The hope is that it will be ratified by a majority of members by monday and the School Year Starts only a week after that, monday, august 17. We are reporting live, ktvu, mornings on fox 2. Happening today, the state assemblyman tim grayson leads to townhall meetings, about School Reopenings in Contra Costa County and in solano county. The 1 p. M. Townhall will be focusing on School Reopenings in Contra Costa County, and each of the superintendent of education, and the 3 p. M. Town hall will be on School Reopenings and solano county, the county superintendent of schools will be at that. We have been following the story, teachers and san jose said they wanted choice of whether they teach online, and a classroom or from their own homes. Teachers and parents had protested for the san jose unified School DistrictBoard Meeting last night, and the district is requiring teachers to teach lessons online from an empty classroom. Teachers can apply for an exemption from in class teaching, but, they say the process is tedious and it is not a guarantee. One parent we spoke with sympathizes with the teachers. It is shameful that our district is not supporting educators, these are the people that we entrust our children to, and they are not being shown professional respect or human considerations for their health and safety. Classes started san jose next wednesday. A School Board Vote on whether or not to hire campus Police Officers is delayed after protesters had shut down the meeting. Dozens of demonstrators, many appearing to be students had protested outside the antioch unified School District headquarters. A board member said that protesters tried to physically block her from getting into the meeting. When i got to the door, i could not get in, they put their bodies across it, blocking me. I am telling you, it was really a ruckus. Board members read letters from the community, some favorite having the School Resource officers, then he opposed the plan but the protesters became so loud that the school Board Meeting had to be postponed and the vote will be postponed as well. Union workers from all over the state were in palo alto, showing support for janitors and their demands for covid19 protection. This protest was at the safeway on middlefield road, demonstrators Want Congress to pass a bill with the debtor covid19 protections for essential workers. Unions are also wanting to make sure that janitors are included in the bill. Organizers have said that safeway and Stanford University down to give janitors the same protections as other essential workers. We cannot believe that safeway has offered an essential worker pay, a hazard pay for all of the workers except the janitors. Hazard pay is one of the major sticking points and the congressional negotiations on the asked Economic Relief bill, it was not included in the first relief bill, but, lawmakers and the house have added hazard pay for essential workers including janitors, to their bill. Republicans and the senate are fighting that provision. A San Francisco judge heard arguments on the states request to force uber and left to immediately classify drivers as employees under the new worker law. Uber and left say that up to 90 percent of their drivers would be laid off, if the company is forced to make them employees. Companies are supporting proposition 22 on the november ballot. It would keep drivers classified as independent contractors, and provide them with some benefits. Right chair drivers are split on the issue. You are basically, trying to excuse yourself from laws that apply to you. Independent polls have demonstrated that the majority of drivers by a 4 to 1 margin support proposition 22, and, it gives us the freedom to maintain independent contractor status. The judge is expecting to hand out a ruling on whether or not the Rideshare Company will be forced to follow the gig worker law as it stands now. The Trump Campaigns request for a president ial debate has been denied, the first debate between President Trump and joe biden is set for september 29 in cleveland. There are two other debates in october. Many states will already be voting by then, so the Trump Campaign wanted to out of four debates in early september. The commission on president ial debates deny the request, saying both candidates would have to agree on a change. California lawmakers are pressuring Governor Newsom to allow counties to offer fewer in person voting options, the request actually comes before the november election, as coronavirus continues to spread in the state. State officials have already admitted to undercounting california virus cases due to technical issues, and Governor Newsom assigned a law requiring counties to mail ballots to voters ahead of the election, and county Officials Say they are struggling to find enough polling locations during the pandemic. Mike to wine plans to take another coronavirus test tomorrow, after he tests positive yesterday morning, and to negative hours later. He was scheduled to greet President Trump on thursday, visiting the battleground state, dewine had to skip the meeting and go into quarantine, but a second test late in the afternoon had come back negative. Dewine is a republican that has been criticized by members of his party because of his support for wearing masks. It is a National Security threat, the order alleges that ticktock captures information from users which allows the communist party access to americans personal and proprietary information. Microsoft isnt currently in talks to buy ticktock. The National Rifle association is facing two lawsuits into different states. Washington dc, attorney general carl racine is suing the nra for diverting funds to the Nonprofit Organization to support lavish spending by top executives.
