And that includes more than 500 cases of the virus among inmates and Staff Members at san quentin prison. Last week and there are about 100 people infected at that state presence of the outbreak there is growing rapidly is considered to be one of the hotspots. The coroner is investigating the death of a 71yearold death row inmate at that prison and trying to figure out whether it may have involved coronavirus. The Health Officials are working with the state to create a plan to treat inmates on site. An education meeting last night , dr. Matt willis said he does not think that outbreak at san quentin poses a risk to the rest of the community. In some ways, in sum, in some metrics that you will see, these cases are counted as marin county cases so marin county will soon become sort of a hotspot statewide because we can easily see more cases just in san quentin that the rest of the county combined since the beginning of the epidemic. It is important to make a distinction because it isnt epidemiological unique environment. Outside san quentin, there have been other outbreaks in marin county and in what Health Officials describe as clusters, sanitary workers recently tested positive. The averages of someone in marin county the tests positive for covid19 is 34 years old and county Health Officials have noticed an increase in younger asymptomatic cases. Right now in the county there a total of 10 people hospitalized with covid19 which is double what it was a week ago but overall 10 is a reasonably low number.
