The mayor says it is very likely shelter in place orders will be extended a few weeks if not a month. She is asked people to continue to comply with the order even though she acknowledges how hard it has been. The official extension announcement is expected sometime this week. San francisco is not alone. Solano county has also extended its order to may 17. Counties across the bay area have worked together throughout the pandemic handing down some of the orders. So it likely will see regionwide extensions. The mayor says she is working on ways to be lenient with some district closures. Talking to Health Experts and they are expected to make an announcement about what could soon become available. Since the beginning several i decided their own path in navigating the coronavirus. They say despite several state easements, they are not following that lead. As we continue to look at what is happening in regards to other states that are now opening as far as im concerned, we dont want to move that quickly. We want to make sure that we have systems that are in place to protect people. The mayor says it is quite a long process to get back to what we are used to. How they reopen the city and county is important so they dont go backwards in the progress that they have made. They have to make sure there is enough personal protective equipment and Testing Available in case there is an increase in the coronavirus cases upon reopening. The mayor said they will hold a News Conference today at 1 pm with updates which we will live stream on ktvu. Com. Reporting live, fox news. Bay area Health Official say many things have to happen first before they can decide when they reopen the counties. And one important factor is the possibility that the virus could come back. There will be waves across the country and likely there will be multiple waves here. The cc has a new report about signs and symptoms to know if someone is infected by covid19. New symptoms includes losing your taste or smell. Sore throat, headaches, muscle pain, chills and shaking with the chills. That is on top of earlier reported symptoms including a fever, shortness of breath, coughing, and blue or purple lesions on the feet. The expanded list is important because many coronavirus testing sites will not test anyone who does not have symptoms. New sites are opening up for People Living in three cities in Alameda County. Stanford researchers will begin drivethrough testing monday through friday at the Alameda County fairgrounds. Testing is from 9 am until 5 pm or until 150 people been tested each day. They must live in pleasant livermore or dublin to be eligible for that testing. People wanting tests must also have at least one of the following symptoms. A fever higher than 100 degrees, shortness of breath, recent exposure or suspected exposure to the virus or a chronic medical condition such as diabetes or heart disease. They must be 65 or older. Stanford University Researchers have not yet said if they will also include the new cdc symptoms that we just mentioned as reasons to be tested. In San Francisco mayor london breed says hitting healthcare workers the personal Protection Equipment or ppe is still a challenge. They say that so far the city has purchased about 15 million pieces of protective equipment including gloves, gowns and surgical masks. But she says the citys efforts have been hampered by unreliable suppliers and the federal government seizing shipments of protective equipment order by San Francisco. A good morning dave. Ucsf researchers and Community Health groups Work Together to make this program happen. They will be offering two types of free tests to those who live and work in a very specific neighborhood. One of those tests will be testing to see if you have covid19. If you have the virus currently, another free test will be looking to see if you have antibodies. Which means if you had the virus in the past and you have antibodies in your blood. The goal is to test as many people as possible in a 16 block area of San Franciscos mission district. Anyone who lives or works in the area to 23rd street or harrison street is eligible for the free tests. Thats 5700 people. It is the second most densely positive track in the city and also a neighborhood that is predominantly latino. Health officials notes that covid19 has had a disproportionate impact on the community. Ive been sheltering forever. I want to know one way or another whats going on here. The study will in fault unfold exactly how pervasive this is. And hopefully ensure the policies and resources will be here to mitigate the future spread. A Similar Program started in the community of bolinas. A rural area and southwest county also connecting thousands of these free tests to observe the extent of the infection with more than 1600 people tested wrapping up last week. In San Francisco today, here is a list of the testing sites you can go to. Garfield park, and Leonard Flynn elementary school. Testing starts at 9 am. And it continues until 4 30 pm. But the mayor will likely announce an extension this week. Today the mayor will provide an update on the City Response to the virus. The bay area counties from working together handing down Similar Health orders. Officials of not released any details on what the extension could look like but they say they are likely seeing no major changes yet. As the bay area does wait for the shelter in place orders to be lifted Public Health officers tell us here that Contact Tracing will be a deciding factor. The governor talked about wanting to ramp up and create a group that continues to do so as we move forward in our progression. Can you talk about Contact Tracing and maybe role in all of this helping us reach the reopening point . I think Contact Tracing is a traditional Public Health approach to dealing with outbreaks and it is really quite critical in terms of monitoring and controlling covid19 in the community. The purpose is not only to give information to the person test positive about how they should be isolating themselves at home and staying away from people but also identifying all of those people who potentially were exposed to make sure that they also are quarantining and staying away from the general public during a time when they could be incubating the virus and being contagious spreading its others. Greg lee spoke to bay area Health Officers who are being drafted behind these forces. The bay area has been under shelter in place order for more than a month. With some people are calling quarantine fatigue is beginning to set in. Most of those that weve spoken to say they understand how important it is but they are finding it more difficult to stay at home. Their reporting local street traffic cut in half. But it is starting to inch up slightly. Even outdoor spaces that are still open are getting more visitors once again including the Lime Ridge Open Space near mount diablo. We are all for exercising a getting out of the house. I just noticed that the parking lot is full. More full then usually see here with cars lined up on the streets. Several states including georgia, montana and South Carolina have started lifting the restrictions. So far no one is putting in an exact date on when that could happen here in california. It is 6 37 am and protesters are demanding the shelter in place order be lifted. They showed up at Governor News more than a dozen demonstrators were outside of the governors home in fair oaks in Sacramento County demanding that the governor reopen the state saying the shelter in place order has gone too far. Many of them ignoring the social distancing rules during the protest. In san diego a similar demonstration of Pacific Beach neighborhood as a drone video shows hundreds of people gathering there. The protesters ignored warnings about the threat of the virus and demanded that businesses be reopened immediately. Hundreds of thousands are now no longer employed because of government mandated unemployment. I am part of a small business. We will be losing 80,000 a month. The protesters also appeared to ignore social distancing rules as many of them were not wearing masks. Bay area trash collection and recycling Companies Say a big change in their pickups is here because of the pandemic. The state home order has led to a big increase in Residential Trash pickups. At the same time there has been a big drop in trash collection from office buildings, restaurants and hotels as many of those buildings are currently closed because of the pandemic. Over the weekend, a man died when his car crashed into the water off of boat launch ramp in downtown christian city. The Solano CountySheriffs Department says witnesses so the car drive straight down the boat ramp and into the water on saturday night around 9 30 pm. He was pulled out of the water still in the car sunday morning. Sheriffs department is investigating try to get more information. Police are looking for clues about a homicide in the outer sunset district. Police rushed to an apartment along the great highway last night near lawton and morocco. That is where police found the body. Theyve not given us any information yet about the victim or any of the circumstances around that death. Those living along the river say outoftown residents are creating unsafe situations during the pandemic. Those residents in montrcl and other Small Community say tours are packing local beaches and markets especially in the weekends. They have concerns that unwelcome visitors could be infecting many of those who live along the river area who are most at risk. They are overwhelming our resources. We have a very fragile group of people that live here on the river. Those with autoimmune disorders and we also have a large retiree population of approximately 60 . Community leaders have reached out to city councilmembers and the Sheriffs Office for help.
