Now, many of the california passengers will be sent to a military base but others will go to a Bay Area Hotel room that otherwise sit empty. Youre going to have a hotel that is completely empty. This is 100 secured from the general public. Four people were taken to monterey county. No details on how officials decided who would go to the military bases and who would go to the hotels. Most of them here in the bay area where 100 people are infected. Three people have died in california. They were in placer, santa clara, and sacramento counties. Contra costa county is the latest area to declare a state of emergency saying the virus appears to be circulating. At the san jose airport, three tsa officers tested positive for the coronavirus. They are being treated and all tsa employees who recently came into contact with them are quarantined at home. Tsa has not revealed what interactions the infected had with the public or how employees are under quarantine. Santa clara countys ban on big gather ergs of more than a thousand people is in effect right now. Theyre saying fewer people, parties that had been scheduled are now taken off the calendar. Small Business Owners say theyre worried about losing those events as well as the San Jose Sharks games that keep the fans coming downtown on weeknights. We dont hold 10,000 plus people. The sharks and the nhl still trying to figure out what to do about the three sharks home games later this month. The options include having the games at the shark tank without fans in the building, moving the games to a neutral site, or even postponing the games. The san mateo supervisors ratified two emergencies related to the to the virus. The emergencies will be in effect for 30 days. Then, the county will consider if they need to be extended students will go back to school today at San Franciscos lowell high school. Students were sent home early last thursday after the parent of one lowell student was diagnosed with the coronavirus. The student has been tested and does not have the virus but is staying home quarantined for now. All students, staff, and faculty are being told stay home if you dont feel well. And nonessential events at all San Francisco schools have been cancelled until march 22nd. The berkeley unified School District also cancelling cool this month and that includes black history or historical fest on march 19th. The School Superintendent is also recommending that school assemblies, performances, as well as pta events be postponed. But the School District says all schools will stay open and field trips in most Sports Events will take place as planned. More colleges are cancelling plans on campuses. Cal state east bay cancelling all classes this week. All lecture, cushion, and seminar sessions are moving online. The first sessions will start on monday. And the santa clara campus of Mission College is suspending classes through march 29th. U. C. Santa cruz also cancelling all inperson classes beginning today. Theyll be offered through zoom. The president is proposing a payroll tax break to stimulate the economy and ease the talk market. The administration wants to temporarily eliminate the entire 12. 4 payroll tax.
