They are planning to take some of them to the Travis Air Force base, or in miramar in Southern California for testing and a 14 day quarantine. The noncalifornia passengers are expected to be taken on charter flights to military facilities in texas and georgia. We have been out at the port all day long following developments there and we are live now with more. Reporter will consider this, 2400 passengers that have to be cleared roughly. If you can clear one per minute, that is going pretty fast, it was still take 40 hours to do this. This is going to be a multiday effort. The day began with a relief to some passengers, that they would not be in orbit on the north california shores anymore. The grand princess, after orbiting off the Northern California shores for three days , passed into the Golden Gate Bridge around midmorning. And headed for a dock at the port of oakland. For some passengers, the trip to and follows a happy change from cruising to nowhere. All along the waterfront, there were many of onlookers. One man even held out a welcome back sign. The passengers will be tested before they move on. A fleet of ambulances was made ready for those already sick from the virus. Emt crews will have the quickest and most urgent duties. Just before 230, two people walked off the ship under their own power, one was put into an ambulance and the other one rode in the front. They were later taken to a hospital. Just after 4 00, another person was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Then, just before four then, just before 4 30, a bus left the port for parts unknown. Everybody also be sent to quarantine facilities at Travis Air Force base, or san diego, san antonio, or other places as circumstances warrant. The crew will remain quarantined on board. With local, national, and International Media watching this bizarre scene, the ships closest neighbors, port truckers, who parked their rigs there are concerned. Right now we just what information. We have not gotten any information, and it is dangerously close to us. There are a lot of truckers that are being used here. And of course the people in west oakland are concerned about this as well, you need to consider that if you just took a minute to clear each person it would take 40 hours. I think it is going to take a lot longer than that. It should be a several day process in the something very different happens. I think a lot of people that are out here doing the work setting this thing up have worked an entire shift, and the last thing you want to have are people that are not fully attentive administering and reading test. Is entirely possible that they may have a fresh crew come in. I do not know if that is possible given all the people that we are talking about. This ship might be retired to another part of the operation, either in europe or in asia. As a result, it could end up doing that. The other thing is, it could be sold off to another cruise line, but the problem with this one is, it was just refurbished last year, so it has all kinds of new things. The other option would be to rename it, and that is happened 37 times in the last 50 years. It is not at all unusual. Whether or not it over come back as the grand princess is an open question. There may be people that are just fearful of sailing on one of these vessels, the same way they were fearful of flying on 787s when they develop problems. The question whether or not theyll do this for the ship is a very open question. The 19 crewmembers that tested positive for covid19, we know anything about them . Are they being taken to hospitals . That is the decision that the cdc and the federal government are going to have to make, because most those people are foreign nationals. They want to keep as many foreigners out as possible. What is the security like around that ship . The security is really incredible. First of all, you are in a secure port. Then you have customs and border protection. You have all these other federal agencies that are here, then you have the United States coast guard and the Oakland Police that are out there making sure that people do not get near this boats. One boat did wander in and they got stopped and were told to get out. There is a lot of security here because they want to protect the general public from the coronavirus, but they also want to protect the people on the ship from any sort of interference. Because of that, people can be kept out. Oddly enough, there are many public roads that run through the port of oakland.
