Chp said the car was driving on 101, went down this embankment, airborne and then actually hit that poll right there and you can see the Utility Vehicle thats working on the damaged pole. This happen before 3 30 this morning. Just past the whipple exit. A mangled car was found on the right shoulder of veterans all aboard. We thought this was the car and it was taken away from the scene. The chb doesnt know how fast the teen was driving but believed she was drinking. She will likely be criminally charged at least with felony dui. They want anyone with information to come forward. Contacted chp area office. Bay area couple is resting in the hospital after a miraculous surviving nine days out in the cold in a rugged and remote area of marin county. I love this photo. It is 77yearold Carol Kiparsky and 72yearold ian irwin, both giving a thumbs up from their hospital bed. These pictures were taken hours after they were rescued late yesterday morning. They found the couple in a ravine deep in the woods near tomales bay. The team was several days after authorities had expressed little hope of ever finding them alive. Then yesterday morning everything changed. One incredible moment as to searchers find the couple. Halfway up we hear versus voices and we thought they started yelling help. We looked at each other and like this is them. Carol and ian are doing okay. They were suffering from slight hypothermia. The reason they are most likely alive is because they were drinking from a puddle that they found near where they were located. The couple from palo alto vanished after going on a hike on valentines day after leaving there rental cabin. They had walked much further than the search teams thought possible so the rescue was after they expanded the search zone. A miracle they were alive. Time now 8 07. A pedestrian died after being hit by car in san jose. This was 7 00 last night. Believes that two people a man and a woman were hit while crossing the street. They were in a crosswalk. The woman died at the hospital a short time later. The man has lifethreatening injuries. Of the driver the car did remain at the scene and is cooperating. Oakland School District officials are inviting the public to hear about chemical contamination that will see the School Closed tomorrow. Clock rural ethylene was found in the groundwater under the school. It is known as tce has not been detected in Drinking Water at or near the school.
