They oppose the location. The site would be at a form are bookstore at 3501 alhambra avenue across the street from School District property that houses an adult school and parking lot. The San FranciscoPolice Commission passed a resolution urging city officials to come up with alternatives to police speaking to homeless people. They want to focus a working group on the issues. They want to see more trained social Services Workers and other outreach to help People Living on the street. Matt haney who represents the tenderloin said, quote, i hear regularly from Police Officers that they feel our city has placed too much responsibility on them to respond to homelessness. A broader, coordinated response would allow the police focus more on Public Safety which should always be their primary responsibility. The Advocacy Group hospitality house also responded and it says that a Police Response is ineffective and inhumane. Adding, quote, we are thrilled that the Police Commission is formally recognizing this and calling on city leaders to develop an alternative response. The bay area is preparing for rain.
