The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A search warrant has been issued to retrieve security footage and also digital files from Nustar Energy facility. Happening today the California Public Utilities Commission is holding an emergency meeting to examine pg es planning and execution of its publicservice power shut off. The Utility Company was criticized for how it went about cutting off power to 700,000 customers which equates to about 2 million people. The cpuc may order the utility to order follow a set of guidelines for future shutoffs. The city of san jose is working to become independent from pg e. Yesterdays announcement comes one week after pg e shut off electricity to more than 60,000 customers in san jose. Mayor sam liccardo said the city is exploring other ways to take over the distribution of electrical power. Liccardo said hes taking step to create a cityowned utility that would develop independent Power Systems like microgrid saying the people of san jose cannot rely on pg e to keep the lights on. Ive seen better organized riots. What happened last week was a disaster. We expect to have more of these Public Safety power shutoffs so its important that as a city we lead the way and invest in these technologies which we know can make our city more resilient. San jose is among other cities across the country looking for alternatives to Utility Companies in the wake of increased outages and unpredictable power grids. Pg e recently rejected San Franciscos offer to buy its local power lines saying the offer was too low. People evacuated last night from near a wildfire in lake county and are back home now. Its called the grove fire burning on highway 29 in lake county and forced evacuations and it started at spruce grove road south of lower lake. Someone living in this area posted a video of the nighttime flames. Part of highway 29 was closed as the flames moved closer. Seven acres have burned according to cal fire. The wind gusts are making things unpredictable. And Santa Barbara county a fire is forcing the evacuation of el capitan state beach. The area is two hours east of los angeles. The fire has so far burned 443 acres. Containment is at 20 . Reservations for the beach campgrounds are canceled until further notice. Highway 101 through the area was closed with flames being driven by 4050 Miles Per Hour wind. San Francisco Police investigating two cases of people being terrorized by a group of people Wearing Masks and carrying a baseball back fat. Both occurred in noe vallley. A new study from caltech warns a major fault line thats capable of a magnitude 8 earthquake has started moving for the first time in recorded history. The school turned on the lights for the first time last weekend for a football game. And it was that decision according to the judge that has caused them to stay in the dark for homecoming. School spirit was high at the homecoming parade thursday in downtown nevada. Students and boosters trying to stay positive even though a judge issued a temporary restraining order on the lights. Even so, some students cannot help but be disappointed for their fellow classmates. I feel bad for the seniors. They have been waiting all four years to get lights and now they will not be able to because the neighbors did not let them. Reporter the battle started months ago. Some neighbors complained about the lights and new sound system at the School Stadium claiming they were not considered when the school went ahead and put them in. The judge agreed and ordered a more complete Environmental Review that the school board completed and was approved last week so they went ahead and turn on the lights but the neighbors who formed a group called, the coalition to save samarin, went back to court claiming the school went around the judge and the judge agreed. The court had final authority to flip the switch, not the school board. They basically snuck in the Marin Catholic game. Thats what happened. Reporter the calling this an unnecessary civics lesson creating frustration all around. Now the varsity homecoming game originally scheduled for tonight will be played tomorrow afternoon instead. Francisco classes are back to normal this morning after a bomb threat forced evacuations of several buildings. San Francisco Police and Campus Police rushed to the colleges main campus off ocean avenue searching the science, Creative Arts and multiuse buildings for two hours but nothing was found. We deployed bomb detecting dogs and other resources to methodically go through the different buildings so we could quickly return the campus back to normal. Now the police are trying to track down the person who called in that thread. At Sonoma State University and rohnert park another rape on the campus being investigated. The allesexual attack happened october 4 early in the morning as in the Student Housing area. Investigators say it was reported last monday, 10 days after it happened. The press democrat reports this is the sixth reported rape this year on the sonoma state campus. Asiana airlines will be suspended for 45 days, flights to San Francisco, is south koreas Supreme Court upheld the decision by the korean government. Five years ago south koreas transport ministry suspended asianas single daily flight to San Francisco as a penalty for the airlines deadly plane crash at sfo in 2013. The Korean High Court said insufficient staff training was a main cause of that crash and the governments punishment was legitimate. San joaquin county Sheriff Deputies made an Emergency Landing last night when the engine failed shortly after takeoff. The Hard Rock Hotel was being built, under construction, when part of the building collapsed last saturday morning and three people were killed. At 8 00, many teachers and staff will take part in a rally to force schools to show support for teachers in the berkeley unified School District who are currently working on an expired contract. Contract negotiations between the teachers and the district have restarted. Facebook has donated 25 million to fund an Affordable Housing contract. Its an annual analysis by Coldwell Banker and it finds Santa Clara County has five of the 10 zip codes in america with the highest concentration of millennial millionaires.
