Following developing news in the east bay, el cerrito where officers are investigating a shooting involving an offduty San Francisco Police Officer. It cleared about an hour ago. A video of the scene earlier this morning and we will take down what we know so far. The El Cerrito Police Department Says an offduty San Francisco Police Officer shot a man in his 40s at about 10 am 10 00 last night on mosher lane off san pablo avenue. We do not know if either men lived there. The officer was not hurt. The man who was shot was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Also the Police Officer, robert de la campa says the man did not have a gun but had some type of west weapon. Earlier this morning, a white car was seen. We dont know how that was connected. Most of the investigation was focused on the sidewalk in front of the apartment complex but officers taped off the area while they collected evidence. They would not say what led to the shooting but said a lot of agencies are involved in the process. That is protocol here. The Contra Costa County District Attorney, automatically was summoned because it is a policeinvolved incident as well as criminal investigators from the Custer County shares crime lab and crime scene investigators. We dont know if the officer fired his service weapon, how long he has been with the department or if he has been putting put on administrative leave. We asked these questions on are working to get answers. The San Francisco Police Department is aware of the situation. We have ached out and are waiting to hear back. In el cerrito, Sara Zendehnam, ktvu fox2 news. Police in milpitas say what was first reported as an active shooter in a Shopping Mall last night turned out to be a smash and grab robbery. It happened just before 8 pm. The mall was packed with shoppers including families with small children. The Police Arrived and found no evidence of gunshots but they did find a store where jewelry cases were smashed. Police believe the noise led to a panic and a report that a shooting was underway. No one was seriously hurt but the search goes on for the robbers. Christina run down will bring us a live report in the next half hour. In the meantime, police are looking for any possible connections between that robbery and a similar smash and grab robbery at the vintage fair mall in modesto just 3 hours earlier. The noise from that glass breaking also led to reports of an active shooter. Police say that for men used a sledgehammer to break the jewelry case in modesto. Surveillance cameras show the men in the store. A few people had minor injuries as they ran from the noise but no one had to be hospitalized. There have been no arrests in either of the cases. New this morning, police are investigating a stabbing in an outside bar in west oakland. The east bay times says Police Responded to a bar on Martin King Luther way just before 8 pm last night. Paramedics treated at least two people at the scene. There have been no updates as to their conditions this morning. One person was taken into custody by police as a possible assault suspect. The time is now 7 07. A haywood father is being remember after he was killed and killed by a car. The 52yearold was one of two pedestrians hit along haywood. He died at the scene. Police in fairfield broke up an illegal sideshow over the weekend and the chp helicopter flew over it friday night, targeting several drivers in the sideshow. There for police say the chp helicopter spotted the cars spinning donuts near huntington drive in stanford court. Firefighters making progress against a big wildfire that destroyed homes and forced evacuations. The mountain fire has burned 600 acres but is 90 contained. The fire started thursday morning near their mountain and dry creek roads. 7 homes and 7 upping things outbuildings have been destroyed. The causes under investigation. A brush fire in Southern California forced evacuations and caused delays on freeways. It started about four clock yesterday afternoon near a freeway. The city of glendale issued mandatory evacuations to about 100 homes but the emasculation order Evacuation Order was lifted late last night. Only 30 acres have burned and it is about 25 contained. Firefighters want people to plan by registering with the City Fire Department and make two sets of plans to evacuate, one by foot the other right car. Ktvus christina run down is there. You have been out there for a while and there has been a new development. What happened . Reporter good morning to you, dave. We want to pass on the new information within the last 5 minutes. A gas leak has been shut off by pg e crews. You can see the area where they dug this, there was a whole by the street on the opposite side of the property where the garage is. We understand the fire broke out on the back side of the garage and there was a gas leak that ran along that side. That was the gas leak that was burning for several hours. Also around 5 30 is when it started. That is when livermore and pleasanton Fire Departments received a call to come up to buck spent buckskin road in livermore. They got there and found part of the home and garage on fire and found the gas leak. It took them a while to shut it off. They had to wait for pg e crews to arrive and half an hour ago we spoke with the Fire Department about the holdup. The gas continues to leak because gas meter broke before the shut off so it is below the concrete. We are not able to shut off the gas at this time. We do have a pg e crew that has to dig up the line and clamp it and turn it off. Reporter again in the last 5 minutes, the gas leak has been shut off and crews were able to quickly dig the hole, get underground and clamp the gas line. As of right now, we understand fire crews are continuing to mop up. There is a lot of foam out here that they used to suppress the fire. When we talked with a lot of neighbors, they say that they were surprised by this. They were woken up by a loud boom, and a popping noise and that woke them up and startled them. At no point was there any type of but to the neighborhood according to the Fire Department. They continued to let the gas leak burn off so the gas would not go into other homes. They ended up shutting off gas in about a one mile radius to these homes. Everything is under control now and the Fire Department is wrapping up their work on buckskin drive. It was reported about 10 pm last night on mosher lane near san pablo avenue. The wanted man was discovered outside an Apartment Building and was rushed to Highland Hospital. He is expected to survive. El cerrito police have not revealed what led to the shooting but a number of agencies are involved. Our time is 7 35. San Francisco Police are searching for thieves who stole a car battery worth thousands of dollars from a hybrid previous car. It happened thursday on webster street in Pacific Heights. Marjorie who owns the previous says she parked her car on the street thursday evening and said she went back the next morning, found out thieves broke into her previous. She quickly found out this was no ordinary car breakin. First i looked down and the entire back seat was removed so i thought they had stolen the back seat. Because i did not know. And i could not open the car. The electrical system was completely shot. We looked up and the battery weighs 180 pounds. We were completely amazed. Miss kaplan estimates the car battery is worth about 10,000. Police say the batteries for previous is are becoming hot items on the market. The El Cerrito Police Department Says an offduty San Francisco Police Officer shot a man in his 40s about 10 pm last night big it happened on mosher lane of san pablo avenue in front of an apartment complex. We dont know yet if either man lived there. The officer was not alert but the man he shot was taken to Highland Hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Robert de la campa says the man who was shot did not have a gun but had some type of weapon. Earlier this morning, a white car was at the scene but we dont know how that is connected. Most of the investigation was focused on the sidewalk in front of the complex but officers taped off the area earlier as they collected evidence. They would not say what will lead to the shooting but said a lot of agencies are involved. Milpitas Police Department was first reported as an active shooter at a Shopping Mall last night turn out to be a smash and grab robbery. It happened just before 8 pm and the mall was packed with shoppers including families with small children. When Police Arrived they found no evidence of gunshots but did find a store where jewelry cases had been smashed and Police Believe the noise caused people to panic and a report of a shooting was underway. Nobody seriously injured but the search for the robber continues. Police are looking for a possible link between that robbery and a similar smash and grab at the vintage fair mall in modesto a few hours prior. The noise from that class breaking also led to reports there may be an active shooter in the mall. Police are 4 menus a sledgehammer to break the glass cases at a Jewelry Store in the mall. Surveillance cameras show the men inside the store. A few people received minor injuries while running away from the noise but nobody was hospitalized. Police have not arrested anyone in either case. A 32, back to the desk breaking news at livermore where firefighters are wrapping up their work on a house fire and a gas leak. Ktvus Christina Wynn dont has been live on the scene all morning and joins us with the latest information on that. Good morning. Reporter good morning two, frank. There is still a little bit of lingering smoke smoldering from the property but the fire is out in the gas leak has been taken care of. You can see the whole that was dug up by pg e crews. They were able to get in there and clamp the line about an hour ago. Now the investigation begins into what caused the fire. Neighbors say it was around 5 30 when they were awakened by a loud pop or a boom noise and some came outside and saw a house burning on the 2100 block of buckskin road. The Livermore Pleasanton fire Department Says they believe the fire started on the backside of the garage and spread to other parts of the house. It spread to a neighboring fence with everyone inside was able to make it out safely and crews decided to let the gas leak burnout until pg e crews arrived. I think livermore Fire Department did a great job. They got to it really quick and look like it was put out quickly. Everybody was out safely. None of the surrounding houses really caught. Reporter it did take some time for the gas leak to be kept. It was burning for about an hour and a half before pg e crews were able to get in here. Right now the fungus is contained to 6 farms near columbias border with venezuela but that is two close for comfort for latin americas multibilliondollar banana industry. We dont know for certain what happened to the banana cultivations in venezuela and that sense, we must be very alert at the border to prevent the fungus from propagating through other avenues. Farmers have been ordered to destroy carps crops in the area and a quarantine on the plantations but in extreme measures, it may not be enough to stop the spread of the bananakilling fungus.
