I am alyana gomez, first were taking a look at interstate 80 following a horrific crash that happened after five this morning at the bay bridge toll plaza, traffic was heavy and slow moving for more than 12 hours today. Traffic has picked up just a bit but still quite a lot of cars on the road today. The traffic backup still keeps the cars back there with the red light. The Highway Patrol says a box truck abruptly hit several cars before plowing through a toll booth killing the toll taker. All lanes are now open. Chp investigating what went wrong, officers arrested a truck driver 32yearold daniel berg for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. Here is more on the arrest. Reporter at 510 saturday morning a box truck traveling westbound approaching the bay bridge toll plaza collided with multiple vehicles, before plowing through one toll station. California Highway Patrol says the truck began its approach to the toll in one of the left hand lanes. But it crossed diagonally through several lanes. Cmac it lost control and struck at least five other vehicles waiting in line to go to the toll plaza. It continued on and came to rest after striking a tollbooth. Reporter chp says it crashed through the number 14 tollbooth, the toll operator was killed. The box truck finally stopped several feet fat past the toll plaza. The driver and passenger were both ejected suffering significant injuries. Reporter the driver and passenger were taken to highland hospital. The occupants and the other vehicles all suffered injuries but none was lifethreatening. 46yearold si si han was the tollbooth operator killed in the crash, she had been a tollbooth operator for more than 10 years. This is the worst nightmare. When we have Something Like this happen to one of our coworkers. Reporter saturday afternoon the governor expressed condolences to her family. The Union President says members are mourning the loss of si si han. Not only did she serve our state with distinction for 10 years, she was also a wife mother and friend to many of us. Our deepest condolences go out to si si hans family coworkers and all who knew her. She leaves behind a husband and 10yearold daughter. Saturday afternoon chp said it arrested the box truck driver 32yearold daniel burke of foster city for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. The governor ordered flags to be flown at half staff in memory of the total caloric are si si han. Monday morning at least one tollbooth is likely to be out of commission. In oakland, talks to news. Today marks exactly one year since the ghost ship warehouse in oakland burned killing 36 people. The warehouse was an artist collective, the building had hazardous issues that the city was aware of but local leaders say the ghost ship fell through the cracks. The victims lost that night were young, creative, and well loved by so many. Family friends and members of their community, they had so much life ahead of them. They were honored all day here from this site and tonight between 11 and midnight nightclubs will do the same honoring the victims with a moment of silence. For everyone showing up here today this is a celebration of life. Coming back to read the names and see the faces has never been easy, that is why it is taking the vega family almost a year. This is a tragedy for oakland and for the state and country. Reporter charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, the property manager and creative director who ran the concert the night of the flames. The one that is ultimately responsible is the property manager. She knew exactly what was going on in this building. Reporter he points to one meter that was rigged to feed power to the warehouse. Two investigates that the buildings owner received a 3 million insurance payout from the deadly fire. The student was receiving medical treatment when the police arrived. The suspect attacked the victim from behind with a cane, the victim suffered an injury to the back of his head. Oakland fire Officials Say a 200 foot section of the peer fell into the water along with four shipping containers. No one was hurt and we are told there are no signs of any Hazardous Materials leaking into the water. They will take on water and sink and stick into the mud so we dont have any concern of them floating into the navigable waterway at this time. Tides are expected to make a splash in the bay area and there could be flooding in some areas. The socalled king tides are as exceptionally high tides that occur around the time of the super moon. During the full moon tides become for 3 to 4 feet higher than average. It is not expected to rain tomorrow but the high tides could lead to flooding in marin county and other areas. Officials are warning about traffic delays in areas where flooding is common. And king tides and the super moon, they go handinhand. Tomorrow night the last full moon of the year will be a super moon. It will rise at about 525 in the evening and set at 643. Monday morning. A super moon coincides with the closest distance that the moon reaches to earth and its orbit. It will be a little bigger and a little brighter. We also see a bit of snow working its way closer to the sierra. They could pick up maybe 2 to 4 inches of snow to help out with that base in the short term. This is a change in the radar as we come in closer, santa rosa reported light rain and it is showing up on the radar as well for saturday night. We still have the possibility of a shower and maybe a little dusting of snow up above 3500 feet. We are watching out for that, there is not a lot of moisture to work with.
