Mike one of our weather watchers telling us really hot in morgan hill over the weekend. I believe anything over the weekend, i believe anything including San Franciscos all time high of 106. 103 also one of two, yesterday was only 84 and today will only be 74, the average is 70, tropical clouds are working their way up, so very muggy and humid today with most of the shower activity south but maybe santa clara mounted belly down to monterey. 60s and 70s temperatures are warm due to the cloud coverage and the extreme heat yet to cool off these are really warm about ready to start warming up again but the trend is cooling down a little bit the majority of this cloud coverage very close but we will get a little bit out. 70s and 80s and 90s as well. 7 02 and sal tells us on this holiday the traffic is . Alex savidge live promotion beach in San Francisco. There is a warning for anyone getting in the water. Reporter there will be a lot of people down at ocean beach in San Francisco, this is not a place to come swimming if you are getting into the water you probably want to get in up to your knees. They dont want people to get in much more than that because there are dangerous and strong rip currents here at ocean beach mostly because of the shape of the beach. Despite the warning signs people do get into the water there were at least a dozen rescues at ocean beach encoding this one captured by our cameras yesterday. A father and son out for a swim and they got into some real trouble in the water. Specialists raced into help them and put them back to shore they used a jet ski at one point rescuers eventually brought the father and son back to the beach they were okay, the boys mother had been watching this unfold from the beach. I played it playbyplay i saw the riptide they started to drift and i started to get up and i started walking and then two lifeguards started coming in. Reporter during the really hot weather this weekend the beaches were packed with people tens of thousands coming down to ocean beach on saturday and sunday and of course that meant to the rescue specialist lifeguards were on alert and they were quite busy making sure everyone was okay in the water performing a number of rescues. The soaring temperatures took their toll on people in a different way, more than 30 people were treated for various heat related illnesses that was just in San Francisco. We are expecting weather to cool down just a bit but it is still a holiday with a lot of people off so you are going to have big crowds at ocean beach today and authorities are reminding people that is a very dangerous place to be getting into the water taking a swim. We cant help but notice the trash behind you. Ocean beach had huge crowds over the weekend. Reporter yes, you dont have to look any further than this trash pile. A huge mess left behind obviously the trash cans were full so people just put this trash next to the trash cans but it gives you a sense of how many people were down here yesterday. A big cleanup for folks at ocean beach you can bet it will be a similar scene later on today. Alex savidge, thank you. There are 19 large wildfires across the state. In exchange for registering with the program and meeting certain qualifications the people enrolled are protected from deportation they can work and pay taxes but if the protection goes away recipients could easily be identified by the government and kicked out of the only country that have ever known. Real people are out to there they have lived here. Americans will be deported. The president will meet with congressional leaders this week as lawmakers return to washington tomorrow. The president and i believe it should be tied to the harvey funding that our First Priority is to make sure the state gets money it is critical and to do that we must raise the debt limit. If Congress Appropriates the money but i dont have the ability to borrow more money we cant get the money to the state. We need to put politics aside and we will urge congress to get both of those things done as quickly as possible. I was getting kind of worried and 30 seconds later i saw people come out to help so i was surprised. Thank god for them. I saw them drifting i thought this does not look good. Reporter it was a very hot weekend which means somebody people were headed to the beaches. Tens of thousands came out to ocean beach on saturday and sunday and of course all of the rescued swimmers with the National Parks service were on alert ready to perform rescues and at least a dozen people were pulled from the waters yesterday after getting into trouble. The soaring temperatures took their toll on people at least 30 people here in San Francisco were treated for heat related illnesses overcome by the heat but again the weather cooling off ever so slightly but still a lot of people down here at ocean beach of course later today it should be nice obviously you have to remember when you get near the water you have to be very careful and the folks here at ocean beach they really urge everyone to keep in mind if youre going into the water you should not go in above your knees. Never turn your back to the ocean. Thank you for that report, right now there are 19 large wildfires burning across the golden state more than 12,000 firefighters battling the fires.
