An update to the story. The Fire Department just got back to me and they definitely believe this was not a hate crime. They have to consider that every time a religious building catches on fire. The possibility might be somebody came out here and set it on fire. But the update is they believe that people were outside of the area outside of the building cooking and then the fire spread to this building here and you can see the damage. It did. The Fire Department rushed out here, but not before the fire ripped through this swing of the buddhist temple. Theres literally a hole in the ceiling right now. 4 people were inside presumably months. They were able to get outside. Nobody was hurt and they are staying at nearby buddhist temples in san jose. The Fire Department got here and they realize that the flames are very intense that they actually called for backup. They stayed here late last night to put out the hot spots. Then they were able to leave this scene. Yes, investigators will be back out here to look at exactly where the fire started, but they believe it was on the outside area and that they are calling this early on and accidental fire. 10, 0, 3 and new this morning, the national Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation. Agency says the poll was going to look at the systems performance in detecting responding to Traffic Control devices label says it makes over 50,000 weekly trips with riders in challenging environments waymo which is based in Mountain View. And thats something that we really seen in the past. He goes on to say these thieves use a screwdriver to pop up and the steering wheel. And once theyve got the goods, they may be reselling them online as these parts can resell for up to 1000 bucks. We assume that this is same type of thing. The breakins are all happening within a specific area of san mateo. And now the Department Says these may try to move on to other areas, which is why they want people to be aware. As of right now, theyve been south of the 92. As of now, drivers are advised to park in welllit areas double check their car alarms and invest in security cameras if possible. Group of Silicon Valley nonprofits is going rally outside San Jose City hall asking the mayor for more Affordable Housing. The Real Coalition is asking city officials to do more to preserve money that would fund Permanent Housing Solutions in response to a plan that they say mayor matt mahan is pushing that plan would divert money away from measure e which was originally set setting aside money for Affordable Housing city. Officials are considering using that money to clear out homeless encampments along waterways and put people in temporary shelters. The rally is set for 12, 30 today. Henry flynn was enjoying a cup of coffee outside sanaa cafe saturday evening when he says he saw a man running out with a laptop. Flynn works as a Security Guard. So he says it fell natural to take matters into his own hands. I saw someone running out with the head. With a lot of talk in the right hand, almost like a Football Player would run with the football. And with the november election just months away, there is concern that angry sometimes dangerous political partisanship will only escalate 3 years ago. The Justice Department created what it calls the election threats. Task force among the 17 prosecutions and 13 convictions. Since then, election threats. Task force has secured the guilty plea of a man who threatened an election worker in michigan. The defendant made vile threats saying that the election worker deserved a, quote, throat to the knife. We secured a 3 and a half Year Prison Sentence for a man in texas with threaten the lives of Arizona Election officials and their children and advocated for a mass shooting. Poll workers and election workers increasing see believe had, quote, suspect results. The problem, not new. This is what michigan secretary of state told a Senate Judiciary committee in 2022.
