Chp responded to a call around 8. 30 this on highway 101 right near trumbull wrote according to caltrans traffic law, the crash involved a fatality, chp. They had to close both on and off ramps and trimble road. That investigation is still ongoing. Lets head to the north bay because a monthlong Pilot Program is now underway in the city of vallejo. But it seems as long as the encampment in the protests remained peaceful, they can continue to camp here much different from what weve seen at other universities. Well, as far as uc berkeley is concerned, graduation ceremonies just a few days away and they will go on as scheduled. Of course, they know whats going on on campus. You can see the tents right behind me. The protesters have been here for weeks and it looks like the encampment has gotten bigger. I was here just a couple of days ago and they have pretty much taken over the entire lawn on this sproul plaza. And it wraps around the corner. So heres what you need to know. The graduation ceremonies are still scheduled for saturday family and friends are coming in to berkeley to help the graduate. The graduation celebrate their very special day, which will happen at the football stadium on campus. Whats going to happen is they will have football rules. Same deal. You will go through a metal detector of you will not be allowed to bring in banners. You cant do that. They will make sure that its going to be football related like a game. But you never know what might happen during a ceremony. Uc berkeley did not say specifically what they plan to do to make sure the graduates and their families have a very special day without graduate. Without any disruption, i should say. But they did say they are very experienced with this dating back to protests to the 60s. So this is, as they say, not their first rodeo as far as the protesters reyna, they did not say that they plan to disrupt graduation, but they also did not say that they would not disrupt graduation and that looming threat has Campus Security as well as Police Officers on high alert. I know columbia in new york city. Theyve already canceled graduation. But as far as uc berkeley and all the other uc schools, all systems go for this saturday, at least at u c berkeley. Back to you. So last month, a dinner for graduating uc berkeley law students got heated. Propalestine protesters stood up to read speech about a ramadan and the war in gaza. Now the dinner was being held at the home of professors. Video shows one of them taking the microphone away from the student telling her to leave the home. According to nbc news, uc berkeley is launching a civil rights investigation into allegations of harassment by the protester. The u. S. Department of education. Theyre now investigating reports of antisemitism in the Berkeley Unified School district. The Department Office for civil rights is investigating a complaint of severe and persistent bullying rosman of jewish students. Federal Officials Say the harassment has reportedly been happening since hamas attack israel in october of last year, the district superintendent was called to testify today before members of congress antidefamation lee was one of the groups that filed a federal complaint back in february. This is going to be the first hearing on antisemitism k through 12 school. This after at least the 3rd incident of the day when the white mustang he was driving slammed into this parked car. It all began just before 08 00am the suspects vehicle hit a pedestrian near jones and market tire tracks are clearly visible. The victim, an urban alchemy employee, was taken to a local hospital and will survive. Police say a few blocks away. Officers spotted the suspects vehicle driving recklessly when the suspect failed. The yield when officers initiated a traffic stop. Police say a vehicle pursuit began about 9. 30. The chase reached francisco middle school. Its their police say the suspects vehicle hit a 14 yearold girl who was crossing campus to the auxiliary campus so that there was crossing the street from building to building and was in the crosswalk. Aaron peskin who represents that neighborhood says the girl was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with a fractured shoulder and ankle. But will survive. Its at that point. Francisco police are allowed to conduct vehicle pursuits under certain circumstances with these chase protocols followed in this case, supervisor peskin says both he and the police are evaluating that right now. So they are asking for the owners to hire professionals to clean up after the rat. They say they resume working once their demands are met. Latino teachers and Community Members of oak Grove Unified School District plan to picket today. Just ahead of the school board meeting. The goal is to reinstate the bilingual liaison and commit to Language Justice in policy in daily practice.
